The COVID​19/SARS­CoV2 RT​­PCR test is a real​time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rRT​PCR) test for the
qualitative detection of nucleic acid from SARS​CoV​2. A single negative test result particularly from upper respiratory specimen does
not rule out infection.
Repeat sampling and testing of lower respiratory specimen is strongly recommended in severe or progressive disease after 2 to 4 days
of first sample.
The result relates only to the specimen tested and should be correlated with clinical findings.
