BIOPSY-LARGE SPECIMEN (>5 CM)

TISSUE:- Total hysterectomy with unilateral adnexa for HPE

GROSS APPEARANCE :-Specimen container labelled 10401753 shows Total hystrectomy specimen with single adnexa, Uterus
8*6*5 cm with cervix shows ulcer with endocervical canal is 3.5 cm. The endometrial cavity shows the polyp and average
myometrial thickness is 3.5 cm . and shows a pale white nodular tissue of 3*2 cm C/S of which shows whorling appearance. The
ovary is 3*2 cm and fallopian tube is 4 cm.Five sections RPT.

MICROSCOPIC FINDINGS :-Section from the Cervix shows chronic non specific cervicitis with nabothian cyst formation. No foci
of atypia or koilocytic change is seen. Section from the endometrium and polyp tissue shows increase in gland to stromal ratio
with glands are lined by tall columnar epithelial cells with basal nuclei without stratification. There is no foci of back to back
arrangement of glands or confluence or atypia is seen. The stroma is edematous. The myometrium shows presence of
haphasard arrangement of smooth muscle fibres with elongated nuclei and tapering ends. There is no foci of atypia or
haemorrhage or necrosis is seen. The mitotic count is <1/10 hpf. No atypical mitosis is seen. The section from ovary shows a
haemorrhagic cyst and fallopian tube shows attenuated epithelium with lumen shows haemorrhage.

IMPRESSION :- Features are suggestive of Nabothian cyst of cervix with adenomatous polyp and secretory endometrium with
leiomyoma of the uterus and haemorrhagic cyst of the ovary and hematosalphinx.

Note:- Specimen, (if partly embedded) will be stored for 1 month after the final reporting date and all specimen will be
discarded after this period, Slides, Paraffin Blocks will be preserved for 10 years, Please contact Reception Desk in case of any
