The ancient settlement of Ed-Dur is now in Umm al Quwain. Ed-Dur was near
a large lagoon that opened to the Arabian Gulf .This lagoon was opened to
the sea and provided a natural harbour for ships, in the beginning of around
100 CE.
6. Why do archaeologists think that Dibba was a trade centre for at least 2000
years?
Sharjah Archaeology Authority revealed stunning new evidences that Dibba’s
Importance as a trading center stretches back at least 2000 years. The
Archaeologists excavated alarge tomb containing decorated ceramics from
Persia and Mesopotamia and glass vessels from Rome that’s why
archaeologists think that Dibba was a trade centre for atleast 2000 years.
7. Why would a trading ship be ideal to spread Tuberculosis?

A trading ship would be an ideal environment for tuberculosis to spread, which


may explain presence in Dibba. The Busy port would likely have been home to
merchants From Iraq, South Asia, Egypt, and Yemen. The Merchants may have
travelled to other places such as palastine , Greece, Italy and perhaps as far as
Spain. Tuberculosis can live in the body for many years, so it could spread very
quickly across entire known world at this time the long distance trade that
brought luxury goods to Dibba could have brought diseases well.
