1) Explain the roles of Operations Management in context of automotive industry. How the same is interlinked
with other business verticals like Marketing, Finance, Aftersales and IT? Is there any role of OM in HRM
(Human Resource Management) works? If Yes, then how? Can you introduce any new outlook/ angle of
view for the same based on your own thoughts?
2) What are the important (whatever you think is important) terminologies in context of an assembly line
operation (e.g. takt time, throughput etc.)? Please explain the same with the example of any assembly line.

3) Service operation is much more difficult to handle as most of the time it’s judged based on intangible
parameters like experience. Many times, it’s mistaken as better marketing strategy rather than better

4) A major reason behind Indigo’s (Interglobe Aviation) continuous success is their operational efficiency.
Though not fully successful but till some extent they have tried to follow the model of Southwest Airlines.
Compare the business model of the both (Only from Operations perspective). What are some reasons for
Indigo not being fully able to copy the same?
In the same line, how do you compare the business model of Indigo with that of Spicejet (Only based on
Operational strategy)?

7) ABC company is considered to be the market leader in passenger car Industry in India. It’s having two
manufacturing facilities at P and Q location, both in Haryana. The Q plant is having 3 major assembly line
(apart from two special lines) for more than 8 different models. The plant runs for 2 continuous shifts from
6:30 am to midnight 12.
You are the section head for all the Electrical and Rubber parts. Automatic door locking system is one of
total ~170 parts you handle. Locking of door being a concern for safety, the part is considered “S” category
part and you have another 36 such parts.
On 30th March 2025, while dispatching the vehicles from Stockyard to the market there is an issue reported
in one of the vehicles (of your top selling model at that point time) that the automatic door lock is not
working.
You have more than 3000 finished inventories of the same model waiting at the stockyard for domestic
market; another 800 at the port waiting to be exported. At part level there are nearly 230 parts at stock
waiting to be assembled. The average part level inventory holding time doesn’t cross 3.5 hours due to your
efficient supply chain management.
The model has 3 variants and the door lock system is same for all the variants. Though the part
specification is same for all the variants, there are two different suppliers (one for variant A & B and another
for variant C).

What would be your course of action in this situation? Please consider all the aspects (e.g. finished goods,
in-process inventory, parts in stock, parts at supplier end, supplier’s process etc.)
