a quick and low-cost technique to collect their own judgment when choosing members of the

Media reliance of the learners. According to Ncert-Solution (2015) the media is essential for

keeping everyone informed about current events across the world. Today, we can get the latest

news and current events with only a few mouse clicks or by turning on the radio or television.

Media is the plural version of medium, which (in general) refers to any channel of

communication. This includes anything from printed paper to digital data, as well as art,

journalism, instructional content, and a variety of other types of information. Anything that has

the ability to reach or influence people, such as phones, television, and the Internet, can be

termed media (Stoltzfus, 2020). There is some importance of media in our life according to

Almerja (2018) they said that a vast majority of people, all across the world, rely upon various

sources of media for keeping themselves updated on various on-going issues around the world.

Media plays an important role for the whole society.

Advancing Listening Comprehension Through Movies. Because there are no rules like in

grammar training, teaching listening comprehension is one of the most important and difficult

duties for any foreign language teacher. Safranj (2015) study was to see how much students
improved their listening comprehension by watching movies with and without subtitles, as well

as their attitudes toward this instructional method. The study conducted for over one academic

year. It was completed with the help of 38 students taught in English language private school in

2013. Five-point Likert scale was employed in rating. With the best and worst attitudes of the

said participants towards this technique have been filtered after they completed the given

questionnaire. Interview was used afterwards to elicit students’ positive and negative opinions

towards the technique. In conclusion, Safranj (2015) stated that using movies proved to be an

effective way to improve the listening ability of the students. Majority of the respondents

enhanced their listening skills and gained more than vocabulary, understood more foreign

culture, felt relaxed and had fun while learning in class.

Netflix as a Digital EFL Learning Aid for Vocabulary Improvement. Damanik&Katemba

(2021) conducted a study that deals with the college student’s perspective in Netflix as a digital

EFL learning aid for vocabulary improvement. The study employed a qualitative method by

giving an online questionnaire on Google form. The problems need to be answered in the study

are: (1) What is the perspective between private university students and state university students

towards Netflix as digital EFL learning? (2) Is there any significant difference between female

and male students’ perspectives towards Netflix as digital EFL learning? (3) Are there any

differences in the perspective about Netflix as a digital EFL learning based on their age? In

conclusion of the study, acquiring new vocabulary through Netflix English movies provides

students with an interesting approach to learning new vocabulary. So, viewing English

movies/series on Netflix will help students improve their vocabulary more easily, and they will

love the movie watching and music, which will make the learning environment more fun.
The Effect of Watching Videos on Listening Comprehension of Iranian Intermediate EFL

Learners in Public Schools. Dehaki (2017) conducted a study to investigate the possibility of

learning listening skills by watching videos and examine the attitudes of students. Many studies

are available to illustrate the effectiveness of this study. In public schools of Iran, there is no

study exploring the attitude of students after using the method. After many years of education in

public schools, students are still not able to understand or to express their intention by using

English language. 75 male students of different public schools in Isfahan is selected randomly.

The Oxford Placement Test was used to ensure that individuals were equal, and 60 participants

with higher grades were chosen. Participants were given a pre- and post-test that contained 50

standardized TOEFL listening items to verify their understanding before and after treatment. The

findings showed that learners gained a positive attitude and improved their listening skills

significantly after watching videos.
