Are e-books dangerous?
Today we often have the
habit of reading electronic
newspapers because they are convenient. However,
everything is a double-edged sword, so electronic
newspapers are also a health hazard. First, reading e-
books for too long will cause neck and back problems.
When using an e-reader in bed before going to bed, the
neck and back are two parts that are negatively affected.
Not only does it lead to diseases like spondylitis, but it
also puts stress on the back, neck, and spine, altering gait.
What's more, the light from e-readers is extremely harmful
to the eyes, especially if reading before bedtime, in dim
lighting conditions. The light of the screen causes fatigue
to the eyes when looking at it for too long because of the
small size of the screen, the very small size of the text. E-
books have smaller screens, so people tend to squint or
blink more than usual. This can cause dry, itchy, and red
eyes as the eyes have to accommodate more than usual.
The third harm of e-books is sleep disturbance. Exposure
to light from e-readers in the dark before going to bed
causes the head to inhibit the production of the sleep
hormone melatonin, changing the circadian clock, making
it take longer for people to fall asleep, deep sleep. In the
long run, this affects our memory and heart a lot. In short,
as you know, reading an e-book is not convenient, but it
contains a lot of harm to people.
