ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

This is to Acknowledge that the report titled “Human Rights Comparison India &
North Korea” has been made. Vishal Lohare. It is hereby being submitted to the All-
India Human Rights Foundation (AHIRA) for the purpose of Internship.
 INTRODUCTION:

Human Rights literally is made up of two words, “HUMAN” & “RIGHTS”. Simply stating
that human rights are the rights that a person that inherits when they reside on land that
belongs to the human race. According to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights are
rights that are inherited by all people not granted by any state or institution. These rights are
provided to everyone regardless of race, colour, gender, nationalism and/or language. These
rights include among others right to life, liberty & Education.

 HUMAN RIGHTS IN INDIA & NORTH KOREA

NorthKorea is a communist nation run by a dictator.India, on the other hand, hasbeen one of
the largest and most populous democracies, with a multiparty system that is diametrically opp
osed to NorthKorea. Both countries' human rights are in a bad position. Amnesty Internationa
l has released a human rights report on COVID-19's impact on human rights manner.

 FREEDOM OF SPEECH & EXPRESSION:

This right has been provided in our Indian Constitution. Although the right is available, still it
is subject to reasonable restrictions depending upon the views and opinions on the basis of
the democracy. The media in India acts as the 4 th Pillar of democracy and hence it is their
outright duty to show news impartially. However sometimes due to the central & state the
powers of the media are curtailed.

The North Korea regime has no such freedom of speech & expression. There are not any
courts which does justice on any means. The common mode of death there is execution by
firing squad. Media is entirely controlled by the Dictator and the only thing published is that
is allowed by the dictator. Also, international communities have time & again reprimanded
them for their no concern towards the Human Rights. They have no sort of YouTube, twitter
or any such kind of social media which keeps them connected to the outside world. They are
entirely cut off from the outer world.
 RIGHT TO MINORITIES:

India is religion centric country. All kinds of religions such as Hindus, Christians, Sikhs,
Zoroastrians, Buddhist, Muslim live together peacefully and hormonally. The Indian
constitution also gives equal importance as well as protection to the minorities. This helps the
Indians to stay with each other irrespective of their religion and live peacefully. This is one of
the biggest assets of India. The minorities also have been able to sit at the biggest offices in
India such as Prime Minister, President & The Chief Justice of India. This shows that India
treats all its citizens equally either it being majority or minority religion

North Korea on the other side has no official state. The are considered to be an atheist state
with the no official religion for the same. There are some percentages of Buddhist and
Christians but they too can not preach in the open. There are also a few more tribal religions
prevalent in the country. However, the dictatorship has clearly stated that no religion of any
sort should be practiced, preached or propagated in the country. The only the citizens of
North Korea have to believe in is that the Head of the country is the supreme being which
works for the benefits of all people. In place of worship, the photo of the Dictator is kept
which shows the brutality of the North Korean Dictatorship

 SUGGESTIONS:

 India is one of the fast growing developing and democratic nation on the world. The
coming decade all the hopes of the world are pinned on India. Thus, India should try
to improve its Human Rights score by focusing more on safety, more freedom of
judiciary, tighter laws/rules/regulations & bring about more personal sense of
responsibility towards its people.

 North Korea is the poorest nation of all in aspects of its citizens. While the dictator is
testing nukes, the citizens are starving. For this purpose, only it is necessary that the
dictatorship in the country has to go away with. This the only must and factual reason
through which the people of North Korea can liberate themselves and be on the path
of their old brothers, the South Korea which is among the most prosperous nations in
the world
