Three Natural Handmade

Perfume Methods
Making your own perfume is easy and fun. Plus, you can create a scent
that is ALL yours! Women (and men) are often associated with a particular
smell, so why not make yours as unique, alluring, sweet, and sexy as you
are?

How to Blend Essential Oils for Your Signature

Scent:

Although I’m not a perfumist, I will share my personal tricks for creating a
lovely scent.

First of all, decide what kind of scent you want. Is it spicy? Floral? Woody?
Maybe it’s refreshing?

Then, think about balancing that scent with another, lighter one that will
compliment it.

For example, if you like Pine, you probably won’t want to be smelling like a
tree. But if you add a touch of Lavender, and maybe a hint of Patchouli
essential oil, you’ll have a lighter and heavier floral that will blend nicely
with the pine scent.

Natural Perfume Method #1: The Roll On

Roll-on perfumes are so convenient. They are already blended right up,
and they travel well in your purse or even your pocket!

To make a roll-on perfume, you’ll need:

** A carrier oil of choice

** A 10 mL roll-on bottle
** About 15 drops of your essential oil blend or single essential oil

You can find links to great roll-on bottles through Amazon or in this article:
She’s a Fox Natural Perfume Recipe.

1) Add about 15 drops of the essential oil blend to the roller bottle.
2) Then fill to near the top (leave a little space so the roller ball will fit
without it overflowing) with your carrier oil of choice. I like to use sweet
almond oil because it is so emollient, but fractionated coconut oil is also
a good choice.
3) Gently tip the bottle back and forth to incorporate the essential oils into
the carrier oil.
4). Snap the roll on tip on the bottle, and that’s it! enjoy!

Natural Perfume Method #2: The Spray Perfume

I love aromatherapy sprays! They are just wonderful to spritz all over after
a shower, just on your hair, or even in a room as a room spray.

To make a spray perfume you’ll need:

** A 1 or 2 ounce amber glass spray bottle

** Vodka or Witch Hazel

** Distilled Water

** Your essential oil blend or single

This is going to sound very unscientific, but I don’t actually measure out my
blend for the spray. What I do is approximate 1/16th of the spray bottle I’m
using.

To do this, I place my finger at the halfway point of the spray bottle, then
half of that (1/4 of the bottle), then half of that (1/8 of the bottle), then half
that again (1/16th). It should be around 1/4 inch or a little bit more from the
bottom of the bottle.

1) That’s the line where I’ll fill the bottle with the essential oil blend—-about
1/16th of the bottle.
2) Fill the spray bottle to just below the shoulder with the water.

3) Fill to the neck of the bottle with your witch hazel or vodka.

4) Shake the spray bottle gently to disperse the essential oils each time you
spray. Enjoy!

Natural Perfume Method #3: The Solid Perfume

There’s something very sensuous about using a solid perfume. The heat of
your skin will naturally melt the balm as well as create a way for the scent
to linger.

You can use any size tin or container you like, but I’ve found the 1 or 2
ounce sizes are generally best. Four teaspoons fits into a two ounce tin,
while two teaspoons fits nicely into a one ounce tin.

To make a perfume balm, you’ll need:

** beeswax
** carrier oil of choice (almond oil or fractionated coconut oil are good
choices)
** your essential oil blend—-about 50 drops per two ounce tin

Here are the basic steps for creating your own natural perfume balm for a
two ounce tin:

1) Take two teaspoons of almond oil and combine it with two teaspoons
beeswax in a double boiler system. (I just use a pint mason jar placed in a
small pan of water.)

2) Then set the stove to low, and allow the heat to gently melt the beeswax
into the oil.

3) Once your oil and beeswax is melted together, remove the jar from the
heat. Add your essential oils. Stir gently to incorporate the essential oils into
the mixture.

4) Then pour into your tin (or tins). All to cool completely, and you’re all set!

NOTE: This blend may smell a bit light for you. I’ve stayed within safe
ranges of dilution here. I tend to like more of a scent, so for myself, I’ll often
add a bit more. If in doubt, start small.

Disclaimer: I’m not (yet) an aromatherapist, although that credential is in

the works. I’m also not a doctor. Be sure you do your own research before
using any herbs or essential oils, including speaking to your medical
professional if you are on medications, pregnant, or nursing.

And that’s all there is to making your own handmade natural perfume!

I hope you’ll experiment and make a signature scent that’s just right for
you.

Rocky Mountain Oils

I love this company. Their essential oils are high quality, third party tested, and they are
into sustainability. I’ve never been disappointed in their product.

Starwest Botanicals:

I’ve been ordering from Starwest for years, now. Their shipping is fast, and their
products are excellent. You can also purchase your other body care items there, such
as butters, carrier oils, and lots more!

Plant Therapy:

Plant Therapy is reasonably priced, and they have a Kids Safe line of essential oils that
are specifically made for children. I’ve had excellent results from their essential oils too!

If you prefer shopping at Amazon, you can find Plant Therapy essential oils there, as
well.

Pompeii Organics:

This is a great company that I purchase from once in awhile, and I like them too. I’m
not an affiliate for them, but I thought I’d give them a shout out as well!
