Actions for SDGs

Sustainable development goals, most commonly referred to as SGDs are certain aims set by
countries all around the world to eliminate various crises and provide development which is
maintainable and possibly ever growing with time.
SDGs is not set to make the RICH but to PRIORTISE social progress. To ensure that each and
every individual around the world is provided the same opportunities.
All SGDs hold an equal importance and require attention to bring peace and prosperity in the
world and to its people. However, the goals be discussed at this time would be:
GOAL1: END POVERTY
Poverty is the most crucial issue being faced by the world for years and has unfortunately
worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Millions are living below the poverty line and in absolute poverty without basic everyday
amenities hence, being trapped in The Vicious Cycle of Poverty.
It is, unfortunately, impossible to end poverty but there is potential to minimize it globally.
ACTIONS

 Government to raise the minimum wage and ensure none in the labor force gets paid
below the minimum wage.
 Adopt a positive attitude towards working women and ensure their rights to equality are
not being violated.
 Ensure children receive quality education and enable them to gain specialization in order
to get higher paid jobs.
 Provide fringe benefits, job security etc. to encourage employment.
 Ensure that all men and women, in particular the poor and the vulnerable, have equal
rights to economic resources, as well as access to basic services, ownership and control
over land and other forms of property, inheritance, natural resources, appropriate new
technology and financial services, including microfinance.

Taking this set of actions into consideration can provide a massive potential to drive world out of
poverty eventually and gradually.
GOAL3: GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
Ensuring people are receiving not just quality healthcare but healthcare itself hold extreme
importance as it acts as a backbone to achieving other SDGs.
Millions globally are deprived of receive good healthcare which has resulted in epidemic like
HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB) etc. and increased infant deaths.
With little to no focus on mental health in developing countries, COVID-19 has severely affected
mental health and well-being of lives.
Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being at all ages is essential to sustainable
development.

ACTIONS

 Governments to ensure proper healthcare system is developed in the countries.

 Making it easy for youth and students to take up medicine subjects to increase the
supply of medical professionals.
 Providing free healthcare and initiatives like Health cards and insurance to make
healthcare less costly.
 Acknowledging and removing the taboo surrounding the idea of not seeking medical
attention or regular check-ups.
 Normalizing mental health problems and encouraging people to speak up and motivate
others.
 Initiate campaigns against drug abuse and smoking.
 Provide incentives to people to quit smoking to prevent health hazards.
Following such actions can cause a massive positive outcome. Regular check-ups will ensure
that diseases are diagnosed in their early stages and treated properly. Better quality of health
would be provided to people while actively focusing on mental health. This would thus, increase
life expectancy and reduce death rate gradually. Enabling people to following to healthy lifestyle
would improve the quality of life and can also positively affect employment and the country’s
economy.
GOAL 4: QUALITY EDUCATION
Quality education is pivotal to drive nations out of poverty and towards betterment and progress.
People around the globe, especially in developing and rural countries are deprived of quality
education. There is taboo surrounding the idea of educating young girls and enabling them to
pursue a career.

In 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic spread across the globe, a majority of countries announced
the temporary closure of schools, impacting more than 91 per cent of students worldwide.

ACTIONS

 Campaigns to take place on the importance of educating young girls and education itself
in developing/rural countries.
 Government to take initiatives to improve the quality of education within the country by
providing well equipped classes/schools and introducing innovative subjects like IT, AI
etc. in order to broaden the student’s perspective.
 Encouraging the use of social media with the intention of gaining information, knowledge
and positive influence.
 Substantially increase the number of youth and adults who have relevant skills, including
technical and vocational skills, for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship
 Eliminate gender disparities in education and ensure equal access to all levels of
education and vocational training for the vulnerable, including persons with disabilities,

the country. With more educated people, more job opportunities will be generated, increasing
the GDP and overall progress.
