CHALLENGES FACING MODERN SOCIETY AND YOUR SUGGESTED SOLUTION

TO THIS/ THESE CHALLENGES

INTRODUCTION

Modern society experiences dynamics in advancement in technology which is aimed to solve

ever increasing challenges that humanity and society at large experiences. Despite the

technology vital action in eradicating challenges and improving the life, there is still persisting

problems that entangles humanity in this modern society daily life due to their unlimited needs

and scarcity of the resources. These challenges are Poverty, Health and quality education . The

indicated challenges have their causal means that bring about their prevalence and dominance in

modern society. The discussion is doing to enumerate those challenges in deep by first exposing

their causal agent and give the way forward about the solution that help solve them.

DISCUSSION

Poverty

Poverty is defined the state of having little and inadequate resources that cannot meet the basic

needs for survival of humanity in given geographical area at specific duration of time. Poverty

takes three fold form; political, economic and social and these three are interdependent to each

other that if one is altered then its impacts are felt to others in equal measure. UN one the goal of

sustainability and development is ‘No poverty’ which means that this challenge is global threat

that modern society is facing and it gives directives that would bring about the eradication of the

challenges for the survival and wellbeing of the society. In order to have clear picture of how

poverty severance is main challenge, we look at the root cause of that may lead to such state.

These root causes include; lack of employment and mismanagement of resources.

Lack of employment has been the stand point of the poverty prevails in modern society as there

is no earning from either employment or self-employment that help coup with the challenges. Of

late unemployment rate in Kenya is increasing at now standing at 2.98% by 2020 which is an

increase from 2.6% in 2019 according to the Statista. Once the society cannot have the access to

the employment opportunities it cannot exploit their available resources to generate returns that

would help meet their needs hence they remain in the bondage of poverty.

Mismanagement resources- with the poor education system this makes it hard for the people to

be able to make sound decision on how to use the resources efficiently and use it as competitive

advantages in global markets. The resources specifically natural resources are to be management

effectively to ensure there is sustainability that is present needs can be met without interfering

with future generation consumption and if there is mismanagement, poor allocation and

depletion by overexploitation then the society which is beneficiary of those deposits end up

being poor.

Diet and health

Good health is brought about by the proper and balanced diet that the society feeds on for the

survival and good health. In 21st century , with the technology advancement in various field that

are sustainable for human development and survival, diet have been ventured into greatly by the

technology through introduction of GMO foods and chemically processed fast foods which their

effects have been experienced or manifested by health conditions of society. With Modern

society adopting technology in their food production, it has led to rise of the health problems as

the society consume those chemically foods which in returns interferes with their health

conditions as some of those foods or ‘diet’ are foodborne. This has led to rise of diseases like
Cancer, diabetes and heart diseases which led to loss of life and by so doing they lower life

expectancy. According to Statista data analysis, Africa has lowest life expectancy of 63 and 66

years for males and females while Oceania led with average of 78 years life expectancy. This

low life expectancy in Africa is brought about by the abandoning of traditional foods (diet) that

affect their health, poverty level and inaccessibility to health facilities.

Poor quality education

Poor quality education has played a role in poverty elevation in modern society with are some

countries that have low literacy level with sub-Saharan Africa leading with 34.7% by 2019

European and central Asia with lowest illiteracy level of 1.5%. However, there are others

countries that have poor education system that prepares students to pass their papers and remain

untransformed in their mental capabilities and not equipped to solve the challenges which is

contrary to universal literacy which dictates that education for common man is to enable him

control his envinrment and once he could be able to read and write he could have mind fit to

rule.1 As shown in the statistical data with sub-Saharan Africa with high illiteracy level

compared to Europe this explain why there is poverty challenges dominating in Africa as

compared to rest of the world because people are unable to apply teleology( know how) to solve

their own problems.

Solution to the challenges facing modern society

Poverty eradication mechanisms;

Provision of employment opportunities- the government and private sectors should devise the

mechanisms that would bring about opening new vacancies of employment in their organizations

which will employ many youths and enable them meet their needs from the earnings their make

from those jobs.

Incentives for entrepreneurship- the government and the non- governmental organization

induce incentives that will encourage entrepreneurial aspects for many people hence making

them capable to meet their needs.

Establishment of technical training centers- the technical skills required in modern society to

solve their problems by employing technology aspects. This will increase their creativity,

research and innovation skills which can earn them a living that end up poverty extremism.

Diet and health problem solution;

Abandoning GMOS foods- society should try by all means to avoid the GMOS foods and fast

processed foods which are mostly ‘foodborne’ and can cause illness associated from them. This

must application to Africa society.

Education on health- the programs should be set aside that will make awareness to the society

about the need to keep the sound health through balanced diet.

Poor quality education Eradication ways;

Revision of education system- some countries that are having poor education system that don’t

teach teleology should be reviewed and revised to make it teach the right thing that helps the

learners to be researchers and innovators so that they can solve their problem.

Establishment of more education institutions- the government and educations sectors in

countries affected by the high illiteracy level should be put in frontline in establishing more
learning institutions that teaches right knowledge to the learners which would increase their

literacy level and be able to solve their problems wisely.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, the modern society experiences many challenges but poverty, poor equality

education and diet and health problem are major one that severely attacks the wellness of the

society and there should be a mechanisms that would solve them in order to have sustainable

society and self-reliant society. This can be achieved by adopting various mechanisms that

should cut down the effects of those challenges from depriving the wellbeing of society in each

case. Hence the society should take advantage of the technology and develop a sustainable

envinrment for their survival.
