Chapter V
SIGNIFICANCE, EVALUATION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This study required the student nurse to be exposed and to be
involved in the community, through the family. It served as a form of
training that helps us to develop different skills and to learn different
things. It helps us to deal with individuals, families, and the entire
community. It also introduced us with the skills of assessing, planning,
and implementing which is quite a challenge coming from a virtual class
but it helps honed us to be more prepared of what awaits us in a hospital
setting. Through this study, we are given an opportunity to know what a
community nurse has to deal with. Also, it helps us to identify problem
and to set priorities. Lastly, the exposure helps us to build rapport with
the family and to the community.
EVALUATION
We have experienced what’s like to be on lock-downs, to be
quarantined and to self-isolate. We have been through pandemic and it
served as an eye-opener to some people and helps them to be more
cautious with their health. As a student nurse our role is to help and
encourage individuals, families, and communities to give importance to
their health and to maintain or improve their health status. Every person
32
should be aware of their health, and should know how to take care of
their selves. Maintaining a healthy body may not be easy, but it will never
be impossible. As well as preventing anything that could harm our body
and affect our health.
RECOMMENDATIONS
1. To the Narbay’s Family
We recommend the family to maintain their relationship with each
other inside the household and to their family and neighbors. We also
recommend to the family to apply the learnings that we have taught
regarding health conditions. Practicing a healthy lifestyle and maintaining
an environment that is safe from any injuries were emphasized to the
family for the improvement of their health and daily life.
2. To the Community
We recommend that the health center of the Brgy. Poblacion,
Guihulgan to held a health programs and promote to educate the people
on the community. We also recommend for the health personnel to hold
health drives or monitor the health status of the people in the community.
3. To the college and Clinical Instructors
The college had been training and helping student nurses to become a
better and more equip nurses someday. Through this opportunity that was
given to us, the student nurses have been trained to build rapport to
individuals, family, and to the community. It trained our skills in decision
33
making and it improves our knowledge to provide interventions that
could help the family. We recommend to the college and clinical
instructors to continue this training in the community for it is beneficial
not only to the student but to the families in community as well.
4. To the Future Level II Student Nurses
We recommend to the future student nurses to listen and take note
when clinical instructors give instructions and when discussing, because
it will help a lot when dealing with the family and making the case study.
Also, Cooperation with the group and be more involved when gathering
data, planning, providing nursing interventions, evaluating conditions for
the success of the case study and to gain knowledge.
