INTRODUCTION
Background:
Six Sigma is a statistical concept that measures a process in terms of defects
99.73 percent of all values can be expected to fall within a range that extends from three sigma
below and three sigma above the population mean
Higher quality
3.4 defects per million of opportunity

Project Overview:
The purpose of this project is to solve the food preparation and delivery issue of The ADDA
Used DMAIC approach
Problem Statement:
Delay in on-call deliveries
DE F I N E
Average duration from cooking the order placed by a student and the time received by the
student is 45 minutes.
This project identifies several reasons for this delay in order deliveries and provides solutions to
reduce them
Project Metrics:
Our project focuses on the 6 frequently delivered food items to the students at the hostel
We took 100 observations
Unsatisfied Customers: 13 out of 100 DPU: 13÷ 100 = 0.13
TPY: e^-DPU = e^-0.13 = 0.878= 87.8% PPM: 0.13 × 1,000,000 = 130,000
Process Objective:
Our project objective is to reduce the delay in the delivery time by around 35%

Improved Data Gathering:
30 orders
5 observations of the cooking time for those 6 frequently ordered food items. We took the
average time of cooking of each food item
Responsibility of the delivery boy to record his time for delivery from the ADDA to the hostels for
these 30 on-call orders
We computed the time taken for the order per delivery for each observation and the average
came out to be 30.52 minutes

CONCLUSION
The project objective was to reduce the delay in order delivery time of the ADDA by around
35%. Using the six-sigma approach and tools, we were successful in reducing the average
process cycle time from 45.32 minutes to 30.52 minutes which is a reduction of 32.6%.

The summary of our process capability parameters are as follows:
