Mr. Baker was on his way to work one morning when he saw a group of
people staring at the old tree in the car park. No wonder they were staring: the tree
was smoking like chimney!
Some of the passers-by were alarmed. They expected the tree to blow up or

When Mr. Baker reached his office, he telephoned the fire brigade. Within a

Probably some foolish people thought that the tree was a good place to hide

smoke.
It took the firemen about one and a half hours to put out the fire.

Under the sea mountains have no trees, grass or snow. They lie in complete

above the water. Then we call them islands. But the tops of most undersea mountain lie

volcanoes that once were islands but have been covered by the sea.
