Information about the Research: This study is being conducted independently by the
researcher purely for academic purpose, and the contents of the survey have been duly
approved by the Head of department of architecture, College of Art and Design, University of
the Punjab and the IG Prisons Punjab, Lahore.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

Dear inmate, this survey is a part of the Master of Architecture Dissertation titled
“Significance of Biophilia in Architecture and its Impact on Human Well-Being in Built
Environment of Juvenile Correctional Settings” that explores the goal of improving the built
environs of the correctional institutes by incorporating natural elements in their design and
planning. The focus of this research is to provide a comfortable and healthy environment in
the Juvenile Correctional Institutes as perceived by the young inmates and prison staff. Once
comprehensive analysis has been made through research surveys, the subsequent focus would
be to propose considerable design guidelines for the design of correctional facilities. In order
to assess the present condition of the juvenile correctional centre and to develop design
guidelines, the answers you would opt for would be extremely helpful in analyzing the
above-mentioned factors from a prison staff member’s viewpoint.

General Information and Instructions about the Research Survey

 In order to get reliable information desired for the study, the questions you would be
asked would require your willingness and cooperation. It is therefore requested to kindly
fill out the survey forms under the best possible cooperation you can offer.
 However, your decision to participate in this study is completely voluntary, and you may
opt to withdraw from it at any point without giving any specific reason.
 Any personal information regarding your name, your designation, your contact
information, specifics about your personal views will neither be released to any other than
the researcher and the facilitator assisting you not be published anywhere.
 Your quoted opinions (if any) will only be used if you allow for it in point 5 of the
consent agreement.
