Universal designs

The image above is an excellent example of a universal design and an outcome of a

distinct facilitated design mechanism. In such a building, there is energy generation, collection,

and water treatment on the site. The building can look at as the only and first project to earn the

global high sustainable building documentation. Therefore, if water is treated in this building,

every person that can access the building will be able to use clean and decontaminated water. We

know that water treatment is one of the best initiatives to have in ensuring the health and well-

being of individuals. There are several shared goals like water sanitation, safety, and well-being

of disabled people. Inclusion of all these can assist with mitigating severe harms that could

happen to people.

The image we see here is another example of a universal building that is categorically

designed to fit universal use. Looking into the picture, we notice some levels of lights, multiple

work desks, spaces, and appliances depicting universal design characteristics, including wide

transparent doors. The building in question has sustainable products or accessories made to be

operative by individuals with limited roles to comply with las of accessibility. They are meant to

apply to a wide population or may not be efficient in operation—the population ages with

universal design acquiring popularity in residential homes and companies. The strategies and

concepts of universal design can be implemented with no extra cost to the overall budget.

Textured floors can be installed to assist in slipping resistance as people age.

Accommodated designs

Here is an image representing accommodated design with a button, specifically for

people with disabilities. The disabled persons can press the button at the right and the door opens

or ring an alarm to come and open for them. There is a sense of diversity and inclusion, though

not entirely. People with visual impairments or those with no hands may find it difficult to be

accommodated in such a building. When disabled persons are included in daily activities,

policies and practices are fashioned to determine and eradicate barriers. Some examples of the

obstacles could be communication, physical and attitudinal hence hampering people’s ability to

participate in society fully. It has to be similar to the people who are not disabled.

From the appearance, the building is universal, a classic hotel suitable for accommodating

travelers and other people who fancy classic appearances. The hotel is an entity that

accommodates travelers, although with paid accommodations since it is a business. Various

hotels with different styles, sizes, characteristics, and services attract customers.

Accommodations are those changes fashioned into procedures, items, guidelines, systems, and

policies. All these can make people with disabilities use them as much as possible. An

accommodation can act as an existing surrounding, building, and process adjustment to enhance

participation from people with different impairments and even activity limitations.

The above stairs are a problem for people with impairments; such a building with stairs

cannot accommodate disabled people. This is more concerning the handicapped people and those

in wheelchairs. When someone on a wheelchair reaches such a place, they have to receive

physical help to make so they can reach the other floor. Such a practice is time-consuming, and

some people would not quickly want to help. Accessibility refers to a state where people’s needs

are put into consideration. Facilities and products are made to apply to disabled persons.

Exploring the physical world is an aspect that most people would take for granted or assume.

The barriers people walk around, past, or multiple times a day are the stairs, curbs, thresholds,

obstructions, sidewalks, and narrow paths.
