# Course Title

1 Course Objectives:
To enable students to comprehend and translate texts and enable them to describe and summarize past
events.

2 Prerequisites:
NIL
3 Student Learning Outcomes:
 At the end of the course, the students will write E-mails in German, describe the incidents of the
past, understand and write a short story.

 They will also have an idea of German short texts by studying about various Fairy tales by Grimm.

Course Contents / Syllabus:

4 Module I What have you done on the weekend (sharing with friends) 20% Weightage
 Introduction to informal letter writing using the format.
  Discussing how to write an informal letter using present perfect tense
5 Module II Dream professions (Wunshberufe) 20% Weightage

 Introduction to the conjuctions: wenn,weil & dass

 Explanation of wenn, weil, dass with exercises. (12/1-146,147 &12/4-153) TA
 Practice of conjuctions with various activities in the class
6 Module III Past Events (Erzaehlen, was oder wie etwas passiert ist) 25% Weightage

 Introduction to the simple past tense (Präteritum)

 Discussion of the concept of weak verbs in the simple past tense.
 Discussion of the concept of strong verbs in the simple past tense.
 Exercise based on simple past tense using weak & strong verbs
 Translating various texts using simple past tense
7 Module IV Once upon a time… 15% Weightage
 Narration & comprehension of the fairy tale "Rotkäppchen"
 Discussion on the questions based on the above mentioned fairy tale
 Narration & comprehension of the fairy tale "Der alte Grossvater und der Enkelkind
 Discussion on the questions based on the above mentioned fairy tale.
 Translation of the above mentioned fairy tales.

8 Module V Tell me why… 10% Weightage

 Introduction to the usage & structure of "zu+ infinitiv"
 Exercises based on "zu+ infinitiv"
9 Module VI Story writing 10% Weightage

 Write a short story with the given clues/words.
