5 Spectacular destinations in the Philippines that formed because of weathering:

1. Biri Rock Formations: Northern Samar

This Biri Island Rock Formation is also a crowd favorite located in Northern Samar. Composed of
seven gigantic rock formations namely Bel-at, Caranas, Pinanahawan, Magasang, Magsapad, and
Bri Rock Formations were once buried over a span of millions of years. These were eventually
lifted because of the tectonic movements. Just a tip, it’s best to go there during the low tide. Biri
Island does not just give you a feast for the eyes but also an amazing travel experience as you
can also swim and snorkel around Bel-at and Caranas Rock Formations.

Alapad Rock, Batan, Batanes

Located along the coastline of Imnajbu in Batan Island, Alapad Rock stands among the many
stunning spots that Batanes is known for. This was formed by tectonic movements and strong
water current.
3. Dupag Rock Formations: Luna, Apayao

This astounding 60-hectare limestone is located in Marag Valley in Poblacion Luna in the province of
Apayao. If you are just looking down it's just like an ordinary rock but if you see the aerial view it will
amaze you with how it looks. Like an alien structure made of superman. It's very dangerous for not an
expert. The way going is not easy, the place is very far and you need to cross the big flowing river where
the normal water is until the knee and pass to a small forest then you can reach the foot of the rock
formation. The tourists will be challenged in passing through tight spaces, sharp edges, slippery
passages, and deep crevices.
4. Animasola Rock Foramtion: Masbate

The most fascinating rock formation is a sculptured piece of rock on the eastern
end of the island located at a distance from Animasola’s major rock mass. This
intriguing ar of work of nature has very well-defined parallel layers of
sedimentary rock that resembles the head of a reptilian. When viewed from up
close it looked like the head of a Tyrannosausrus Rex over us.

5. Nagundungan Hill: Babuyan Islands, Cagayan

Blissfully resting on the island of Calayan, part of Babuyan Islands. Nagundungan Hill is a
true freak of nature. From the precipe lapped by the ceaseless angry waves to the
gigantic abyss plummeting into small caves. Best time to visit this place is from May to
avoid being stranded on the island which is frequently battered by strong winds and
typhoons.
