A TRAVELOGUE: ANIMASOLAWONDERS

By: Kimberly R. Sampayan

Animasola Island is one of the places included in your island hopping itinerary around Burias. A
towering rock formation, clear blue waters, and a white sand beach make
this part of your trip worthwhile. This beautiful beachscape is what
you’d often see whenever you make a quick search about this part of
Masbate.
Know to its amazing rock formations and natural pool. Animasola
is one of the islands you can visit when you're in Burias. The
water is clear and clean. There's a lot of instagrammable spot
beside of the rock formation. However, I noticed that one spot
there has a sign board that it's not allowed to go up. But people still go just to gave a perfect picture. It's a bit steep
going up there. I just hope that they put someone to justify the sign board and for the safety of everyone.
Animasola is part of Burias group of Islands. The island is known for its rock formations
similar to Biri Island, and it's natural pool.
We went here for the weekend, and as tourism in the area is picking up,
there was an influx of tourists exploring the area.
Nonetheless, the clear waters and beautiful sceneries of the island are
worth visiting.
If we are going to list the islands in Burias, Masbate based on their
popularity, this one is absolutely a top charter! The island of Animasola is
one of the most visited islands in Burias not because of the sand nor the crystal clear water but because of
their unique and impressive rock formations that are
absolutely picture-worthy!

Here’s a shot few meters away from the Animasola Island. You can see that stunning Arena-like
greenfield on top of the huge rock formation while on the further left lies that famous stratified rock
form. The stratified rocks is actually one of the most distinctive characteristics of this island compare to
others and it is not really surprising why travelers are very eager to witness its unique beauty.
Interestingly, Anima Sola is actually a Latin word which means “Lonely Soul” but contrary to its
depressing name, the island will actually put your souls in so much glee!
You know what is the first thing that came up in my mind after seeing this unique rock formation? Lion King! It feels
like I can unleash my inner “Rafiki” and raise Simba on top while everybody is dancing in the tune of Circle of Life
haha ♪Naaaaaaaaaants ingonyama bagithi baba!!♪

After arriving on the island of Animasola, someone approached our team charging us for their Environmental Fee.
They charged us Php25 per head which wasn’t really that bad. As soon as we arrived, we immediately explore the
place to see what Animasola really has to offer. Seeing those amazing rock formation upclose put me in so much awe.
It interestingly reminds me of those islands in Minecraft haha but kidding aside, it’s fascinating how these rocks are
formed that way!

The shore of Animasola is notably composed of huge rocks and pebbles yet still complimented by crystal clear water.
A trip to Animasola Island will not be completed without grabbing the opportunity to step to one of its famous rock
formation. In order to reach this part, you have to pass through a waist deep water and it’s just 1 and a half meter
distance from one platform to another.
Please take note that climbing the top is quite a challenge. It requires a bit of rock climbing skills and the rock is
notably sharp so be extra cautious if you decided to climb this rock formation. It requires a team effort too! We’re
lucky enough that one of our travel buddies offered his poor body as a platform so we can all climb the top haha.
With its unique and incomparable beauty, Animasola is definitely a must visit island in Burias. The stratified rock
formations are truly a beauty to marvel and a sight to behold! If you have
enough time, make sure to visit the other side of the island as they
feature a lot more engaging rock formation!
