Organisation Profile

Nestham is an micro level organisation registered at Guntur and operates in Andhra Pradesh,
Telangana, Tamil Nādu, Karnataka, and Jharkhand exclusively for agriculture and allied
sector for sustainable growth among the Rural Farming Communities. It is associated with
NABARD, ATMA ,and Agriculture and allied agriculture departments ,Krishi Vigyan
kendras , Agriculture Research stations ,universities ,ICAR institutions to implement
different activities and programmes to enhance the production and promote sustainable
marketing linkages to the farmers by innovative holistic approach

History of the Organisation

Nestham organisation started in the year 2002,was registered in the year 1996 by Suresh
Vesam who is currently the CEO of the company, he always has a vision to do something to
the society. This organisation mainly engages in value chain management which mainly
explains us about the players who are connected to the farmers in their journey of growing
the crop to reaching the consumer. Their main activities include giving information ,training
of farmers ,promoting capacity and strength building of farmers by Farmer Producer
Organisation. NABARD is the main supporter of this organisation. Recently Central
government has came up with the new scheme to promote 10000 Farmer producer
organisation and selected 4 organisations one among them is NCDC , NAFED, NABARD.
The remaining three organisations are empanelling Nestham to start FPO and train the
farmers make them a growth center by registering the FPO as company ,and supporting them
by collective marketing. The way of approach in engaging with the farmers is as follows
Company CEO meets the focused group and their inputs , insights will be taken followed by
base line assessment then proposal will be made by the company and it will be sent to
NABARD which sanctions the project with administrative costs, salaries. NABARD gives 70
lakhs grant to Nestham. In Andhra Pradesh Vedanta company is funding Nestham to carry
out activities in East Godavari district. Nestham has completed 50 + projects with the support
of NABARD since 2011.
Farmers Producer Organisation was promoted by Nestham in the year 2015 with the support
of NABARD under producer fund for the collective marketing and cooperative marketing
and generate income to the farmers especially the one who produce banana and jasmine . The

Stakeholders

The important and main stakeholders are Farmers , Traders ,Government ,


labours ,Banks .Stakeholders can be further divided as Internal and external .Internal
stakeholders are people whose interest in a company comes through a direct relationship,
such as employment, ownership or investment.
External stakeholders are those people who do not directly work with a company but are
affected in some way by the actions and outcomes of said business. Suppliers, creditors and
public groups are all considered external stakeholders.

Objectives of the Organisation

Vision: Promote sustainable comprehensive growth by utilizing natural and human resources
for the maximized growth among the marginalized communities in the society.
Mission: Maximum utilization of natural resources for strengthening community-based
organizations for the sustainable development of the marginalized communities.
Objective: The main objectives of the organization are:
• Promoting farmer clubs
• Promoting FPO’s
• Conducting Women Empowerment programs
• Providing Agriculture finance
• Conducting Skill development programs
• To improve the life style of farmers community
• To enhance the crop yield of farmers by proper training
• To promote sustainable growth by utilizing natural and human resources
• To Strengthen and develop community-based organisations
• To educate the farmers about the benefits of collective marketing and make them join the

• To help farmers by rendering value impact services

Activities of Nestham

 Providing Exposure visits to the centre of excellency , Department of Horticulture


 Providing LEDP training to the farmers where the rural SHG members learnt
extraction of banana fibres and making different products like table mats, etc
 Helping the producers of banana, jasmine to form a Farmer producer organisation and
trying to enhance the production capacity of farmers
 Nestham implemented Hariyali project in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with ther
help of CSR funding by Mahindra Finance which mainly focused to create awareness
of plantation in the rural areas
 Used CSR funds of Mahindra finance to empower girl child by providing electronic
tabs in the economically backward societies
 Agriculture Marketing Tie-up: The NGO providing marketing tie-up to the FPO’s for
the high price for their commodities. The tie-up with the AVT, Desi Fruits &
Vegetables, Metro and more Supermarkets helps the farmers supplying their products
and get the payments intime.
 FSPF Chilly Project in Nalgonda District: The farm sector promotion fund project is
implementing with support of NABARD in Kellapalli village, Dharmacharla Mandal,
Nalgonda District. The main objective of this project is to promote safe cultivation
and nursery promoting in shed net house.
 Rural Agriculture Financing Programme: The NGO is providing agricultural
financial services to the farmers especially small & marginal farmers for the working
capital. The last financial year, the Nestham disbursed Rs.50 million to 2500 farmers
especially for the agriculture, horticulture, dairy entrepreneurship development
activities. The program is implementing with support of Samunnati in Andhra Pradesh
and Telangana.
 International Women’s Day Celebration among Women Farmers: The organization
celebrated International Women’s day in Vemavaram village to infuse self confidence
among rural SHG women and conducted games and distributed small prizes to the
women.
 Exposure Visit to Dairy Women Entrepreneurs: The organization conducted exposure
visit with the SHG members to the Vijay dairy, Vijayawada and members had
exposure on the dairy and milk products processing procedure. The women members
were selected from Nalgonda District for the exposure visit.
 Training on Food Processing in Nalgonda District: The organization conducted food
processing training in kallipalli village, Nalgonda District to impact skills among the
SHG members. Smt. N. Sugandhi, Home science expert gave training in preparation
of spice products.
 Village Awareness Week Programme: The Organization conducted vigilance week in
Kanchikacharla Mandal, Krishna District, with the object to eradicate corruption in
the group programme. The staff of the organization propagated vigilance importance
in the public services by distribute palm plats.

Activities Planned and accomplished

DAY 1 : A brief orientation was given to us by the CEO about the organisation and their
mission , vision and their activities , their main funders , their associations and problem
solving approach
DAY 2 : A field visit to chagantipadu FPO (Farmer Producer Organisation ) of Bananas
where we met the Director of the FPO and had a meeting with him and gained knowledge
about the FPO and its functioning , problems of their stakeholders .
DAY 3 : Visit to Kotturu Tadepalli village , gram panchayat to know about the problems of
farmers concerning to irrigation facilities ,power , crop yield . We had a meeting with the
Sarpanch and gained insights about the farmers welfare activities .
DAY 4 : Visit to Krishna cooperative bank association to find out the credit facilities to the
farmers. The way of availing those credit facilities .The problems and risks associated by
loaning to farmers.
DAY 5 : Visit to Chandragudem Jasmine FPO one of the best jasmine selling market in the
district. The activities included visiting Jasmine fields , seeing the Traders auctioning in the
market ,understanding the problems of both traders ,farmers and learning how FPO solved
the problem.
DAY 6 : Presentation of the information gathered to the CEO .
