Instruction of Dual-panel Connection Based on “idetector.

exe”

7th Feb 2020

Field Application Department
iRay Technology (Shanghai)

Dual-panel connection are commonly demanded by many DR systems. The function of dual-panel
connection is designed in most of iRay DR detectors (Mars/Venu series).

In this document, 2 Mars1417V3 wireless detectors are used as an example. Two methods are
demonstrated to set up dual-panel connection to the same PC with the iRay’s engineer tool,
“idetector.exe”. These 2 methods are: “two net cards connection” and “router connection”.

Method A: Setting the dual-panel connection by using two LAN/wireless cards

1. Please make sure both detectors can be connected by the “idetector.exe”

1
2. Please choose one detector, and change the IP to “192.168.8.9” (For example) *. Then, write
the parameter.

*Except “192.168.9.XXX” (Inner data transferring IP, in case of conflicts), any other IP can be set.

2
3. In network settings, please set the IP address of each net card separately. (Here we use two
LAN cards for example. The procedure of setting wireless card is same.) As shown in the table
below, one of the detector has been set as “192.168.8.189”, corresponding to the “192.168.8.9” set
in one of the detector.

3
4. Then, go back to the “idetector.exe”. A folder containing information, calibration and
configuration files of the second detector is required to be created by following steps:
Open the “idetector.exe”.
Create a new profile.

Error Case 1: Please use the

officially released SDK
pack. If the SDK pack is
integrated and detector
template has been deleted,
this error will appear.
For solving this problem,
please refer to page 9.

Created.

Then, go to the path of the

“idetector.exe”. Open the
configuration file. Change
the following settings.

Another port number is

required (Here 28000
Also, please change the IP
→28001 for example) to set
address in accordance with
for the second detector.
your settings in previous.

Then, change the parameter

“Cfg_AllowMismatchSN=
0” in the same
configuration file, and save.

4
5. Please connect both detectors. Try to make the two detectors connected at the same time.

5
Method B: Setting the dual-panel connection by using one LAN card and a router

Please note: In this method, the stability of the connection is highly dependent on the router. In
this document, a TP-Link WDR7500 router is used for demonstration. There is no official
recommendation of the router type. iRay will not take the responsibility of any systematic failure
caused by router or hub*.
*(For some extra hints of Hub connection, please refer to “Error case 2” on Page 11)
1. Please use net wire to connect two detectors separately. Change the Wi-Fi mode of both
detectors to “Client”. Input the SSID and password of the router in the detector setting. (For the
details about how to set the client (Router) connection, please refer to the user manual.)

6
2. Then, please change one of the detector’s IP to 192.168.8.9 (for example).

3. Go to the path of the “idetector.exe”. Open the configuration file and change the following
settings. Another port number is required (Here 28000 →28001 for example) to be set for the
second detector.

7
4. Then, change the parameter “Cfg_AllowMismatchSN=0” in the same configuration file, and
save.

5. Please connect both detectors. Try to make the two detectors connected at the same time.

8
Error Case 1. “The directory work_dir templates not exists in current WorkDir”

If the SDK pack is not originally released by iRay’s support team (Integrated by console provider,
or R&D test version). The detector’s template file in the SDK may not exit. In this case, this error
may appear.

Please go to the path: \Tools\iDetector\x64\work_dir, and copy the detectors folder and rename.
Here we use Mars1417V3 for example:

Then, go to the path: \Tools\iDetector\x64, find the file bind.txt. Copy the original detector info
and paste in a new line:

9
Save. Then the new profile will appear in “idetector.exe”. Please note that the configuration of
the second profile should be in accordance with the dual panel instructions in this document.

10
Error Case 2. Connection failure when connecting two detectors by using the hub

Using hub to connect two detectors is not recommended by iRay service team. If the end-user
insist to use the hub, please change the MAC address below to get rid of internal data transferring
conflicts.
