The document discusses Jose Rizal's role in achieving Philippine independence through his writings and advocacy, which led to the passage of Republic Act 1425 or the Rizal Law in 1956. This law mandates the study of Rizal's life and works in schools to develop a stronger sense of nationalism. The activity sheet asks how the Filipino youth would think or act if this law did not exist, and the student responds that they would be unaware of heroes' contributions, nationalism may not be established as country's foundation, and some may not research history due to lack of requirement.

ACTIVITY 1 Rizal’s Life, Works and Writings Name: Date: Course/Year/Section: Instructor: Three to five paragraphs, answer this question briefly: “Considering the political, moral, and socio-cultural aspects in the Philippines during the 1950’s up to present, how do you think the Filipino youth would act or think if ever the Republic Act No. 1425 didn’t materialized into a law?” Your final paragraph must be your conclusion. Start writing your answer here: One of the most significant assets that a country can possess is its History. As we all know, our national heroes like Jose Rizal were indeed prominent people in Philippine History. Jose Rizal Is a Filipino Hero who is one of the people who sacrificed his life for our country and his achievements cannot be discounted. Unlike our other heroes who fought for our freedom, Jose Rizal used a different method, he only used his thoughts, letter and his words to show Filipinos to stand up for themselves and fight the Spaniards. He opened the consciousness of Filipinos to fight for the independence of the country. In our past history, churches and government have a strong connection. The relationship between the church and the government was good back then, but it is now chaotic. According to Rizal's novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, the church and the government were then united in running the town. On peace matters, the parishioners who run the church consult with the lieutenant and captain-general. In fact, they are their primary target whenever someone violates the law. Even if they disagree personally, the parish priest's decision is often followed by the lieutenant. In carrying out their responsibilities to the people, the church and the government now make separate decisions. They frequently address political and national interest issues in a variety of ways. There are times when the church and the government have opposing viewpoints but still show enough respect for one another. Only the government makes decisions in matters not covered by the church. However, matters concerning the people, even if they are spiritual in nature, are still directed by the government, especially if they have a direct impact on their well-being. But then, Jose Rizal's prominent role in achieving national independence resulted in the passage of Republic Act 1425 on June 12, 1956. It was sponsored by Senator Claro M. Recto became known as the Rizal Act. Section 1 of the Rizal Law, also known as RA 1425, mandates the study of Rizal's life and works. It was also obligated to put it on the libraries, curriculum and translated in the language which is easy to understand. This Republic Act encourages Filipinos to develop a stronger sense of nationalism at a time when Filipino identity is rapidly declining.

As per my insight, if this law did not become a law in the government, the youths or the new generation would be unaware of the great contribution of our national heroes, we would all believe that the heroes who paved the way to our freedom were ineffective because we did not know their stories, which inspired a lot of Filipinos and helped to establish a strong nationalism as the foundation of our country's freedom. I also believed that if the law did not materialize, some people would not have the courage to research it. At some point it can be non sense to them. Because nowadays, the focus of the people is on the trends.
