Comprehension II: Andy is writing a poem.
On this beautiful day, I come back to the seashore,
Listen to the wind and the roar of waves.
‘Lean against the rock on which our names were written.
The happiest moments in my life replay.
Oh, those days when we were just little kids, 5
‘We swam in the sea and giggled on the grassland.
‘You made me a string of seashells
And I gave you a bottle of coloured sand.
Oh, those days have gone far, far away
Since you left this old village for a new life. 10
‘Just for a brighter future,’ you said.
And I sobbed bitterly and secretly.
Five years have passed quickly and silently,
And I am still wondering
If, in Canada, you have a bright future. 15
And if you still remember those days.
