Job Description

Head Nurse

Summary:

A Head Nurse, Nursing is in charge of the overall care of patients receiving treatment at an
outpatient or inpatient medical facility. Head nurses are in charge of overseeing the
performance and effectiveness of all nursing staff under their management and may be in
charge of assigning work, maintaining medical records, reviewing and signing appropriate
nursing procedures and practices, training and educating nurses, and developing effective
and cohesive nursing teams.

Job objectives:
Supervise, directs and responsible for the administration of nursing service in a single patient
unit, under the direction of the nurse supervisor.

Responsibilities:

1. Keeping accurate and comprehensive health-care records and reports.

2. Administering medicines to patients while watching for adverse effects and responses.

3. Prescription of assistive medical equipment and therapies.

4. Keeping track of a patient's vital signs and medical information.

5. Medical diagnostic and clinical tests might be ordered.

6. Observing, reporting, and documenting symptoms or changes in patient conditions.

7. Non-intravenous drug administration.

8. Working with members of the healthcare team to assess, execute, plan, or


evaluate patient nursing care plans.
9. Adapting patient health treatment programs in response to changes in patient
conditions and reactions.
10. Utilizes interdisciplinary team tactics to handle patient problems and requirements.

11. By adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations, the employee is able to keep
the workplace safe and clean.
12. By keeping data confidential, it is possible to maintain patient trust while
still protecting operations.
13. Maintains professional and technical knowledge through participating in
professional societies and attending educational courses.
14. Maintains a cooperative connection with health care teams by exchanging
information and participating in team problem-solving techniques.
15. Weekly job roaster preparation and distributing it to the appropriate departments.

Requirements:

1. A bachelor's or master's degree in nursing is required.

2. Professional nursing theory, patient care, and understanding of


organizational policies, regulations, and procedures are all required.
3. Knowledge of medical devices and equipment.

4. Ability to use and adapt professional nursing concepts, procedures, and


strategies in order to provide ongoing patient care.
5. Knowing how to keep and prepare records.

6. Developing and sustaining excellent relationships with patients, medical


professionals, and clinic personnel.
7. In an emergency, the capacity to react calmly and efficiently.

8. Multitasking, listening, and verbal communication are all important skills to have.

9. Should be engaged and eager to assist patients.

10. Capability to employ a variety of diagnostic procedures in order to make a diagnosis


and to offer primary care to patients in an emergency.
