Filing Patent
Innovative Idea 1: Anti-Bacterial Bio-Chemical Component

Anti-bacterial components existing in the market contains alcohol components is hazardous

to human. Alcohol based sterilization products which are Flammable, causes skin irritation,
causes serious eye irritation, may cause cancer (Ingestion) on the people who using it.

Resources aim to develop and bring to the public, the Products and Technologies through
knowledge-driven innovation activities in the area of human environmental protection.

Resources avoids alcohol components for two reasons,

1. Hazardous to human skin - Alcohol components remove the moisture and oil from
the skin, and causes
2. Fire hazard - Alcohol is commonly used as disinfectant on stainless steel equipment
and machineries. But Resources avoids alcohol component in the antibacterial
component because, they are flammable, Heating process is done to reduce the
volume of the waste material in second phase of waste management so it has higher
chances to catch fire. Also, alcohol damages the coated protective layer from the
equipment.

Resources has developed an alcohol-free anti-bacterial component; on application it

leaves a residual film on the skin layer and the equipment to protect from the growth of
pathogens. The alcohol-free anti-bacterial component is tested for sterility with Tamil
Nadu Testing House, and it has passed the Sterility Test.

Alcohol free Anti-bacterial bio chemical component is developed by well-equipped R&D

team of Resources headed by Dr Anil, who has 25yrs of experience in advance molecular
biology.

Target date to file patent June 2022

Alternative purpose Hospital approved disinfectant solution to clean

equipment in operation theatre & diagnostic room.

Innovative Idea 2: Bio-Chemical Heating Component

Food waste contains 90% of water. To remove the moisture existing waste management
competitors are using electricity, which consumes 1unit/1kg of waste to be processed.

Resources explored to find an alternative to reduce electricity usage, cost and time
consumption.

Possibility to heat the waste material to reduce the volume is chemical heating. Any
exothermic reaction could be principally used but naturally the rather late position in the
production line sets strict limitations.

Resources has developed a biochemical heating component it should be effective (big heat
generation from small addition), easy to use, and economic.

Technology readiness level of the component is in laboratory level.

Bio chemical component is developed by well-equipped R&D team of Resources headed by

Dr Anil, who has 25yrs of experience in advance molecular biology.

Target date to file patent October 2022

Alternative purpose Alternative of Bunsen burners, which  are generally used to

rapidly heat high-boiling liquids with low flammability.

Relative Advantage Bunsen Burner cannot control the temperature and using an
open flame can be dangerous.

Bio-chemical heating component maintains an Optimum

temperature and also it has no open flame.

Innovations by Resources might become a biggest asset of the organisation. For any
organization patent applications will prove to be a saviour in this competitive market.
Patenting is not always a speedier process. However, protecting an invention may not always
mean filing the protection complete invention but acquiring the priority of the invention i.e.,
filing the provisional application for the inventive concept at the conceptual stage itself.

Patent filing would be done for both the bio-chemical component before October 2022,
parallelly exploring the commercial viability of the invention.
Prototype Scope
& Plan
Uniqueness &
Distinctive Features
1. Antibacterial Coating:
Waste Collection bin and feeder of the processing unit are coated with specially
designed biochemistry antibacterial components which will not affect the fertility of
the waste to ensure the safety of waste handling executives.

2. Removal of Moisture & Reducing Electricity Consumption:

Designed a biochemistry component that is used to reduce the moisture from
biological waste material collected from commercial scale food eateries and marriage
halls. Biological Waste material contains 90% of moisture. Existing waste process
techniques consume more electrical energy, to remove moisture from one kilogram of
biological waste, one unit of electricity is consumed.

Competitive Advantages are,

Low-fidelity (lo-fi) prototyping is a quick and easy way to translate high-level design
concepts into tangible and testable artifacts. The first and most important role of lo-fi
prototypes is to check and test functionality rather than the visual appearance of the product.
Low-fidelity prototypes don’t have a lot of detail, images or colours. Instead, they use
placeholders for images and text but show the flow and functionality of a solution. You can
create this type of prototype on paper, it can be a simple visualization and doesn’t require
expensive material. Storyboarding, sketching and card-sorting are three inexpensive and simple
ways to create low-fidelity prototypes.

In my Project Low-fidelity prototyping is quick and inexpensive instant model to show how
exactly the mechanical shredder looks. It helps to develop an overall view of the end solution
with minimal time and effort. On the other hand, low-fidelity prototyping has a lack of realism
and may lack validity.

• Letter of Consent for Analytical Study • Sterility Report

Sterility test: Evaluation of microbiological quality of anti-bacterial bio-chemical component
was performed, the component passed the sterility test and protects from pathogens.

To conduct the sterility test for the anti-bacterial component we made an analytical study
agreement with Tamil Nadu Testing House, Chennai. First letter from the left is the letter of
consent to conduct analytical study for the anti-bacterial component.

Second document is the sterility passed report from Tamil Nadu Testing House, Chennai for
the submitted anti-bacterial component.

Working Model- 2

Mechanical Shredding machine

Mechanical shredding machine is used to process the biological waste and heated to remove
water and to reduce the volume and weight of the waste material. The water content from the
food is removed by means of grinding food waste through shredders producing a semi solid
product. This can also be sent to further processing or used as a feedstock. In order to
breakdown food waste into small range of particles to make it a useful biomass product we
use dehydrators. Thus, after testing its proven that it can be used directly on soil to increase
the fertility rate as well as it is used as a compost feedstock.

The mechanical shredder manufactures an extensive line food-waste quantity reduction

systems which might be widely used in reducing the size of the food waste. This product line
consists of pulverisers, shredders, and hopper. This section presents an in-depth examine
those structures, observed through an outline of a few other systems available on the market.
Shredder systems pulverize the waste to slurry of 95 percent water and 5 percentage solids.

Frigate Makers Space, Trichy has developed the mechanical shredder with the design given
by the product owner Mrs. Anbumathi.

Tools & Techniques

1. Tools and Techniques used to design and develop Mechanical Shredder:

A shredder is a machine or equipment used for shredding. Shredding systems are used to
reduce the size of a given material.

Design: Engineering Drawing

Development

Three Shaft saw teeth cutters that mesh with knives to shred scrap and waste.
Shredder

Grinder The waste material to be shredded. They are made of hardened

alloyed steel and may be coated to add to their useful life.

Granulator Sizing screens to screen materials & send oversized pieces back
into the shredding blades to ensure that it reaches a specific size.

Magnetic Strip Separates metal particles from the food waste, which might damage
the machineries

Slitter Process whereby the shredder takes the material and pulls it down
into the cutting blades.

Feeder Metered feeding is placing materials in the shredder at an even flow

and normally employs some form of conveyor.

Motor The motor on a shredder operates at a slow speed to lessen its

stress. The slow rotating speed and high torque allows the shredder
to shred a variety of materials.

NPK Fertilizer
Assessment
To Assess the Concentration Level of Primary Nutrients NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus,
and Potassium)

 Soil Test Under National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture

 Soil Health Card Smart Soil Kit

Nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium are the main components of soil fertilizer. These
methods isolate each nutrient from the soil into a solution that can be analysed using turbidity
and colour to determine the concentration of nutrients present in the soil sample. Knowing
present concentration informs environmental scientists of a nutrient deficiency or surplus in
soils used to support plant production, and also provides general insight into basic
biogeochemical cycles of an ecosystem

Under Scheme, the government issues soil health cards to the farmers over a period of 2
years. This scheme helps the government to promote Soil Health Management. This scheme
is aimed to reduce the use of fertilizers and to maintain the nutrient balance in soil for
enhanced productivity by testing soil samples in all the states/UTs of the state.

Prototype Journey to MVP
The intervention so for created for prototype can process the waste by reducing the size and
volume of the waste materials collected from food eateries and marriage halls.

To create a Minimum Viable product from prototype, the below components and developed
to create the go-to market product.

Creating a user journey mapping during the trail run in MR Maaligai, Comprehensive waste
management would get a full run of all the three phases.

Starting from website, tele calling team, truck contract, waste collection executives for waste
collection phase.

Pulverized, processed and dried waste material will be mixed in the assimilator with NPK
(Nitrogen, potassium & Phosphorous) to produce NPK fertilizer and packed with a manual
packaging machine.

Team Resources will work on the testing the user experience and their feedbacks will be
collected to iterate the development process to redefine the product to make it perfect-fit for
the user’s pain point.

Parallelly,

Marketing plan will be structured for Comprehensive Waste Management in digital platform
and also direct target market.
Conclusion

On-site food waste systems are alternatives to landfill disposal and can facilitate

compliance with the proposed waste ban. These systems can be used as an alternative or a

complement to off-site composting of food waste. While interviews with experts in the

industry using these technologies indicate general success at reducing the volume and weight

of food waste generated, a number of potential concerns also came to light. Many of these

systems are relatively new to the market and have not been thoroughly tested. While our

findings suggest that they can be a valuable component of a Comprehensive Waste

Management program, MR Maaligai, Agarm, Chennai has agreed to conduct the trial run.

Also point to the need for careful planning and due diligence prior to purchase.
