the best strategy is to answer them. When you know the traps, you can quickly eliminate incorrect answer choices.
2. PLAN BEFORE YOU WRITE
Take a breath and think about what you want to
write before you write it. In Writing Task 2, decide what your answer is first. Think of 2 reasons and examples to support it. Jot this down on paper. Then, type the essay. This saves time. You won't get stuck in the middle of the essay stressing out about what to write. You'll already know.
3. GIVE TOEFL WHAT THEY WANT
In Speaking Task 2, the question asks you about the
man's or woman's opinion. Spend 10 seconds summarizing the announcement. Then, go right to what TOEFL wants: ONE person's opinion. Summarize that first. Then, if there's time you can talk about the other person's opinion.
4. FOCUS MORE ON THE LECTURE
Many students want to spend a lot of time
summarizing the reading in Speaking Task 3. They are so good at this that time runs out & they haven't said much about the lecture. Spend a maximum 20 seconds on the reading. The rest of your 40 seconds should be about the lecture.
