1. Definition
Biography is a detailed description of person life.
2. Function:
To know a person’s story about his/her left outside of
any accomplishments this person maybe known for
and give lots of information easily and to educate the
readers.
3. Characteristics of Biography:
a. It describe the person’s surroundings (where, when
and how the person lived).
b. Applied clear language to avoid mistakes in
information presented.

Historical recount is related to the history of a place or
an object which is very memorable and considered
important throughtout life.
2. Function
a. To describe past historical experiences by involving
the important dates, characters as well as the place
of the events.
b. To perform all interpretive aspects in the historical
recount.
3. Characteristics
a. Retelling the past historical recount
b. Upholding the history of a place or an object
c. Written scientifically or imaginatively
d. Purposing to informing or entertaining
4. Generic Structures
a. Orientation (introduction): introducing the
participant, setting of time, and place.
b. Events: it should be a chronological order.
c. Re-orientation (closing): it consists of conclusion or a
comment or sums up of evaluation made by the
writer.

Fable is afictional story, poems or prose, with a specific
moral or lesson that is conveyed to the reader.
2. Function
a. To entertain or to amuse the readers.
b. To convey moral messages or lesson.
3. Characteristics:
Using one character.
Using simple plotand character
Using animals or elements of nature
Containing a moral or lesson.
Using personification
Containing a funny and amusing story
Reflecting cultural beliefs.
4. Generic Structure:
Orientation (introduction): hat text talks in general
Complication: tells what happens with the

Resolution: tells how the participants solve the
problems aroused by the conflict.

Legend is a story about human events or actions that
has not been proved nor documented.
2. Function
To present the story of human actions in such a way
that they are perceived by listener or reader to be true
(in literature).
To entertain or amuse the reader about the
interesting story (in general).
3. Characteristics
a. Set in a specific place
b. The main character is often heroic
c. Fictional story
d. Some historical truth at the heart of every legend
e. Heroes often give up dreams of happines to help
others
f. The hero is real
g. Handed down through generation
h. The story was told orally and turned into literary
master pieces.
4. Generic Structure
