4. What is the 3rd space below the treble clef called? The 3 rd space below the treble clef is
called G.

5. What is the 1st space above the treble clef called? The 1 st space above the treble clef is

9. Why are ledger lines necessary? Ledger lines are necessary because what if we want to
write notes that are higher than the space above the top line, or lower than the space
below the bottom line? This is what ledger lines are for. The purpose of these lines is to
extend the staff in both directions, up and down.
10. What are ledger lines? Ledger lines are short lines that are placed above or below the
staff as an extension of it.

1. What are triads? A triad is a chord with three notes that can be set as thirds because the
pitches work together.

2. Give an example of a triad chord.

A minor triad is created by establishing a root note and then adding in a minor third
note and a perfect fifth note.

4. What are major triads? A major triad is created by taking a root note and then adding in
a minor third note and a perfect fifth note.
