• Students' choices of Politicians have also
proved that college students do have a wise
decision in choosing their candidates that
could positively influence the political arena
of the state and that can also do good for the
state. (Ex. late Sen. Miriam Santiago).
Introduction
• It is inevitably natural that there is always a
partisanship in college students' political
beliefs and stands that caused them into a
division and created them into numerous
groups of political supporters which soon
then became political armies.

• The issue of this study pertains to how will
the partisanship of college students in terms
of their different political beliefs and stands
affect their essence of professionalism, their
proper political engagement, their
relationship towards the opposing parties
and their political approach using their
Objectives
• The purpose of this study is to identify and examine
how will the partisanship when it comes to different
political characters and political stands and beliefs of
the college students of Colegio De San Juan De
Letran affect their professionalism, their educational
attainment, and their political influence towards the
public using their political knowledge and
awareness. In this study following questions below
are being asked and aim to be answered.

1. What is the basis of college students


when it comes to their political beliefs
and stands towards a particular political
party or politician?

moral values in school, in public, and their

As a college student, she has a high interest in


politics because she is always interested in the local
political affairs in her state. She is also interested in
the federal government’s movement in her country,
especially its impact on her daily life (Emily, 2020)

Civic engagement through public voluntarism are


possible predictors of the college students political
engagement, this could also be a relevant basis for the
prediction of college students political involvement.
Inside home, family discussion of politics can also
contribute to the young people in developing their
interest in politics (Kate and Wilson, 2004)

This present generation of college students have


grown-up with the values of being open minded to
the society in terms of societal issues like different
races of people, religious beliefs, and sexual
orientations. College students have less-cynical
behavior, more hopeful and more socially active and
responsible (Santos, 2004)

College students are optimistic, self confident,


independent, and goal oriented. Today’s students
also have mastery in computers and different
modern technologies which they can use in political
engagement. They are known to be the multimedia
generation (Reyes, 2001)

Since the creation of Facebook in 2004, social media platforms
have increased in various numbers which have been also
subscribed by many users across the United States which
majority are college students and now, social media is being
part of political platforms. Through this, citizens especially
youths and college students can easily obtain information and
can quickly interact with whoever they want in just a matter of
seconds (Maas, 2018)

Competition in political parties has fueled a partisan
conflict because it raises the political stakes for every
political policy issue. More than that, constituents
and supporters of the political parties will remain
loyal to that political party that they rather choose to
change their position on a policy issue that switches
another party (Maas, 2018)

Negative partisanship of different political parties supporters
emerge when the partisan identities of voters are strongly
related to other salient and political characteristics. In a
research conducted by Politico, it was discovered that since the
year of 1980, supporters of both major political parties,
