Abstract

A tracer study is an important tool to document and to find out the status of Bachelor of

Science in education graduates of the Bicol state colleges of Applied sciences and teachnology batch

2018. It aims to assess the effectiveness of the BSED curricula and competencies of the graduates

including their skills,knowledge,and values that they have learned during their four-year journey as an

education student in college. This tracer study also focus on the personal profile,employment

status,problems and obstacles that they have encountered after graduation and also knowing their own

perceptions on the quality of eduaction offered by the school. There are a total of 109 graduates of

BISCAST Batch 2018, 22 graduates of Bsed Math,20 from BSED p hysical science,26 from Bsed English

and 41 from Bsed TLE. The findings of the study will serves as the basis and guide for better

implementation of the school curricula in eduaction. These may also be an object of change to

update,assess,and improve the services to cover the gap for the needs of the 21st century learners.

The study uses descriptive survey design to gather valuable information and relevant insights of

BSED graduates of BISCAST batch 2018 using questionaires and theough conducting comprehensive

interviews. The collection of the list of BSED graduate of batch 2018 was also completed through finding

various reaources that are available. This is through a face to face interview,facebook

accounts,emails,cellphone numbers that are given on their yearbook. Until data was gathered and

tallied to analyze using percentage and weighted mean.

There are 70%of the surveyed respondents who are gainfully employed in public schools and

about 20% are in private schools. The remaining 10% are on the other field of employment. Majority

have landed their teaching profession less than a year of their graduation in college. There is about an

average of Php 10,000 of salary from their first year of work. Instances of problems that are being

encounterd by the newly graduates includes such numbers in the lack of teaching experience,financial
problem,and the opportunities for Dep-ed vacancies. But it was an exceptional percentage of those

graduates who believed that the school contributes ro their growth to learn and develop their skills

during their four year studying in BISCAST.

The tracer study opens the way to evaluate the effectiveness of the school curricula. Such

recomdation is to have a free training for the newly graduates,pre-employment examinations, a

sophisticated interview to test if they are fully pledge or comittef to the vocation of teaching, and by

strenghtening the relationship of the faculty and students can be also applied for better feedback of

their needs. More dedicated qualified professors must also be hired on the field of specialization for

teaching Math,Science,English,and TLE was also advised. The offices including all resource hub in the

school and the department of college of eduaction in BISCAST must improve and continue its quality

services
