Mathematics for our
World
We have seen in the
preceding sections how
evident mathematics is in the
natural world, specifically in
how the patterns we observe
in nature follow logical and
mathematical structures. It is,
therefore, important that we
learn mathematical concepts
and apply them in solving
societal problems.
Topic objectives :
 Upon completion of this
lesson, the students will be able
to :
o Understand how
mathematics helps organize
the patterns in the natural
world.
o Identify behavioral patterns
in the natural world and
phenomena.
o Describe the logical and
mathematical structures in the
natural world.
Lesson 1.3 topics
 Mathematics for
Organization
 Mathematics for
Prediction
 Mathematics for control
 Mathematics is
Indispensable
Summary :
Mathematics helps organize
patterns and regularities in
the world. Mathematics helps
predict the behavior of nature
and phenomena in the world,
as well as helps humans exert
control over occurrences in
the world for the
advancement of our
civilization.
Mathematics is
Indispensable
How it is possible that
mathematics, a product
of human thought that is
independent of
experience, fits so
excellently the objects
of reality?
