The New Now

It has been three years since all of us started to feel something different, to
see things not on its usual state, to fearfully touch the common things which
we found out might be too dangerous for us in just one tap, to imprisoned
ourselves in our own house and most of the time wandering about the status
quo we are facing. Regardless of these things happening around us, whether
it is in our own comfort—home , office or school, there are also images behind
the lenses I'm staring at which can never be seen and heard by anyone else
until I am here standing in front of you.

Things are different now. We can’t go to school without covering our faces
because we are thinking of ourselves and the people around us. Before we
started getting things back in shape, I wonder, do we have the same feeling of
closeness? We now have a space that sets a boundary which didn't exist
before. But that line didn’t hinder us from being open with our thoughts
of longingness to old normal times.

With the new normal, I realize that a lot can happen between now or
never. For the first time in almost six years, I am one of the students of the
school who was opened with the new way of teaching—Distance Learning.
The present learning modality that we have today brought a challenging role
for me and also with our beloved teachers. As I was thinking, what would be
the way of other schools in dealing with this current system? Will it be the
same? Whether or not, I am thankful that I am part of this school in working
things out for the benefit of our community.

I believe all of the schools have their flaws. There is no exception. At

first, I did understand that all of us are adjusting and it is an undeniable fact
that there are announcements which will be changed instantly. Decisions are
already made and change just right after the table. It is likely a series of pilot
testing and I know that is part of the solution.

Now, let me take this time to look at the things around you. Aren’t you grateful
we are here? Though we have challenges in front of us, we are still resilient
and steadfast. Let us take this time to send grateful remarks to our teachers
who serve as the backbone and hero of our new now.

They are the ones who teach us how to cope up in times we don’t know how
to use some apps just to be sure we could still meet the class online. They are
also the ones who tirelessly work today, teaching us with gasps in their breath
and making sure we learned.

Be also thankful to our school administrators, our frontliners who risk

their lives and our government. For they did they’re very best for us to be
here today.
And not just that, please give yourselves a tap on your shoulder. We might
lose the things around us but you never give up. Because you are a fighter
and you are unstoppable with the new now.
