1.0 INTRODUCTION

FANTASY CUISINE is a competition organized by the HIP committee PPD


Tawau. The competition aims at encouraging and increasing the use of English
among pupils/students and the community. It builds confidence in
pupils/students and community to memorize, speak, render and express
themselves in English.

FANTASY CUISINE is the adaptation from the popular reality show Master Chef
which hopes to encourage the community to use the English language in align
with the HIP objectives using talents of cooking.

2.0 ELIGIBILITY

2.1 This competition is open to;

i) Year 4 to Year 6 pupils from government-aided primary schools only. Year 3


pupils are allowed to participate if they are from under enrolled schools.

ii) Form 1 to Form 6 pupils from government-aided secondary schools only.

2.2 Each Zone should send 1 team which consists of 1 pupil and 1
parent (father or mother or community).

3.0 COMPETITION RULES

3.1 Time

3.1.1 For the primary and secondary school category, each team is
given a preparation time limit of 1 hour.
3.1.2 Presentation time given is less than 10 minutes and panel of
judges will ask some questions.

3.2 Fantasy Cuisine

3.2.1 The cuisine will be presented must not touch on sensitive


issues, such as race, religion, stereotyping, politics etc.

3.2.2 Participants are not allowed to refer to any notes or printed


materials during the presentation.
3.2.3 The fantasy cuisine will consist of 1 dessert, 1 main course dish
and 1 special drink.

3.2.4 All participants will prepare the 3 dishes (dessert, main course
dish and drink) based on fantasy story book given.

3.2.5 Any suitable decorations are allowed during the presentation.

3.3 Attire

3.3.1 All participants should be in appropriate attire according to the


competition.

3.4 Stage Arrangement

Teams are allowed to arrange their positions to fit the screen as


long as it is in accordance with the current MOE’s SOP.

4.0 ADJUDICATION

4.1 A panel of at least 3 or 5 judges will be appointed for all the rounds at all
levels. The competition at the national level will be judged by a panel of 5
judges, appointed by the Sports, Co-curricular and Arts Division, Ministry
of Education.

4.2 Points will be allocated according to the scoresheet.

4.3 Judges will collectively determine the placing by a clear majority


vote.

4.4 The decision of the judges is final. No appeal is allowed.

5.0 PRIZES

5.1 Prizes are awarded as follows:-


● Champion
● Second Prize winner
● Third Prize winner
● Consolation Prize winners

5.2 Trophies and certificates of achievement will be awarded to the winners.
Certificates of participation will be awarded to all participants.

6.0 EXCEPTION

All matters not stated in the concept paper or any exclusion to the
rules and all other unexpected matters and issues on interpretation will be
decided by the organising committee of the competition.

*This concept paper is valid for 2022 until further notification or revision from the
Ministry of Education Malaysia and can be used at all levels for competitions organized by the
Ministry. The competition will abide to the above rules ONLY.
