Kashiyatra- A Brief Introduction

Kashiyatra (also popularly known as KY) is the Annual Cultural festival of IIT
(BHU) Varanasi. Transforming the spiritual capital of India into a cultural hotspot,
Kashiyatra is a three-day fiesta where participants from all over the country
compete in literature, music, and arts to find the best amongst themselves. It has
also earned the fame of being North India’s most prominent cultural festival. Every
year it receives enthusiastic participation from colleges all over India.

The fest is more than just about participating and winning events. It is about having
fun, making friends, and learning new skills these three days. While the days
experience intense and rich cultural performances, the nights of Kashiyatra are
studded with stellar performances from world-renowned artists. A myriad of
cultural events and the lively Pronites make participating in Kashiyatra a truly
memorable experience!

Duration of KashiYatra this year

Though KY is held in January every year, this year, it has been delayed owing to
the present pandemic situation. This year it is scheduled to be held from 1st April
2022 to 3rd April 2022.

Theme- Cultural Resurgence

The Pandemic had brought our world to a standstill for more than two years.
Locked up in our homes, we were so hung up on our gadgets that we missed out on
the finer aspects of our culture. Now, as the world recovers from one of its worst
phases, it comes back more robust and more alive than ever. Kashiyatra presents
before you this year’s theme, ‘Cultural Resurgence’ — a celebration of the
rebound of culture in its unique styles and hues. With a myriad of events and artists
this year, Kashiyatra celebrates the undying culture that unites us and keeps us
enthralled.
Plans
Such a large festival can only be successfully organized with the coordination and
dedication of various teams. The teams involved in KashiYatra this year are
Publicity, Public Relations (PR), Creative, Marketing, Events, and Content team.
The marketing team is currently working on bringing sponsors for the fest.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations (PR) team is mainly working on contacting
judges for various events and guests for talks, Pronites, and workshops. Students
are also working on developing the website for the festival.
Presently we are planning to conduct KashiYatra in Hybrid mode this year. This
means that the prelims of all the events will be conducted in online mode by
circulating google forms for submission of the entries. After the prelims, the finals
will be held in the offline mode along with two to three Pronites.
However, if the situation improves and the Institute plans to call students back to
campus, we have planned to conduct it entirely in offline mode.
