Running Head: WEEKLY REPORT 2

Week 1: 18th Jul 2022 to 22nd Jul 2022

For the first day of my attachment 18th Jul 2022, I was taken through the technical

department (Water Quality Lab) and was introduced to my supervisors. Following a detailed

orientation to the department’s attachment program and the company’s analytical equipment and

apparatus, thereafter, I received my special program assignment from the Human Resource

Manager and then began to experience the laboratory exposure.

The second day of attachment 19th Jul 2022 involved my assignment to the testing

laboratory. In the morning ours I cleaned the laboratory and arranged all the apparatus and

disposed all the laboratory wastes appropriately. I was taken through the water quality testing

procedures using various portable meters. The meters measures different parameters such as; pH,

turbidity, total dissolved solids (TDS). During the afternoon I determined the turbidity of

MAWASCO water sample (1.07FTU).

On 20th Jul 2022, I started my laboratory task by a routine general laboratory cleaning and

disposal of laboratory wastes and apparatus and equipment preparation. I was then assigned to

determine the pH, conductivity, turbidity and TDS of seven water samples. Later on, I

determined total water hardness from the seven samples using hardness testing kit.

On 21st Jul 2022, I was assigned laboratory manual on free chlorine and other additional

materials containing information on free chlorine determination. At the afternoon, I was assigned

to determine level of chlorine in seven samples with assistance from my supervisor.

Friday 22nd Jul 2022, I was assigned to read and take notes on alkalinity determination in

water samples.
Running Head: WEEKLY REPORT 3

In summary, I spent the first week familiarizing with the area and the company’s

laboratory. Getting to know the basic principles of the equipment in the laboratory and all the

testing procedures including their routine laboratory practices.
