Manufacturing Facility Vadodara
Voith has a fully equipped state of the art manufacturing facility
at Vadodara, India, to cater to all requirements of the local and
export markets. The facility is equipped with best in class, latest
technology machines including 5 axis CNC machine. The
facility has manufactured and supplied many turbines and
precision components to hydropower projects in India and

6 Furthermore, parts and components are being overhauled in
the facility at Vadodara.
Automation Workbench Noida
Voith has a fully equipped Automation Workbench in place at
its Noida facility to carry out software and hardware engineering
for automation equipment of hydropower projects including

Renovation & Modernization
Hirakud HEP, India: Voith Hydro has successfully carried out
renovation, modernization and upgrade of two units (unit
no. 3 & 4) of 24 MW Francis machines of Hirakud (Burla)
HEP for Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Ltd. The Turbines
were uprated from 24 MW to 33 MW and generators are
uprated from 27 MVA to 35.76 MVA.
Salal HEP, India: Voith Hydro is executing order from NHPC
(6 x 115 MW) for design, model test, manufacture, supply,
erection, testing and commissioning of 06 nos. fully HVOF
hard coated Francis runners along with fixed and moving
labyrinth. The older units of the project experienced erosion
damage because of high silt in water. The design head of the
project is also reduced because of regulatory requirement.
The new runners to be supplied by Voith are designed to
generate full power at reduced head of 85 m.
The first runner has already been delivered at site on 30th
Nov 2016 according to the project schedule.
Ubolratna HEP, Thailand: Voith Hydro has been awarded a
Contract for Renovation of 2 units of 8.8 MW each (unit 2 &
3) by EGAT. The scope comprises of replacement and
refurbishment of turbine components, replacement of
generator, automation, balance of plant electrical &
mechanical equipment.
Chiplima HEP & Hirakud HEP, India: Voith Hydro has been
awarded two Contracts (Chiplima – Unit 3 of 24 MW and
Hirakud Unit 5&6 - 2x43 MW) by OHPC for Renovation and
Modernization/Upgrade. The scope comprises of
replacement of complete Kaplan turbine except embedded
parts, complete generator, automation, balance of plant
electrical & mechanical equipment.

Salal, India
Refurbishment & Repairs
Bhira HEP, India: Voith Hydro had received order from Tata 3
Power to replace the stator of 150 MW motor-generator for
Bhira Pump Storage project in May 2014. The scope of work
comprised of design, upgrade, manufacture, supply, erection,
testing and commissioning of motor-generator with new uprated
stator of 200 MVA. Voith Hydro successfully completed design,
manufacture, supply and build-up of new stator at site in record
time of 11 months. The shutdown was limited to only 54 days
thus ensuring minimum idle time of the unit.
Western Yamuna Canal HPS, India: Voith Hydro has
successfully executed the order for supply of turbine parts and
refurbishment of Bulb Turbines of two units of 8 MW (unit no. 2
in power house A and unit no. 2 of power house B) for HPGCL.
The units had undergone considerable deterioration and order
for their refurbishment was placed on Voith for restoration work.
Upper Indravati HEP, India: Voith Hydro had been awarded a
Contract for supply of spares & major overhauling of turbine,
main inlet valve, generator and upgradation work of AVR &
governor system for 150 MW unit in Sep 2015 by OHPC. Voith
Hydro completed the work and handed over the Unit to the
Owner in July 2016 within 5 months of start of work at site.
Baglihar I HEP, India: Voith Hydro is executing a Contract for
restoration & rehabilitation of 150 MW unit no. 2 for JKSPDC.
The scope of work consists of replacement of runner, stationary
labyrinth and overhaul of complete generating unit.
Karai 13 HEP, Indonesia: Voith Hydro is executing an order
for supply of runners, guide vanes, labyrinth seals, facing plates,
etc. and supervision work for 2 units of 4.7 MW. The units will be
restored to original capacity after this refurbishment.

Spare Parts
Nathpa Jhakri HEP, India: Voith Hydro has supplied 16 nos.
upper labyrinth seals for 250 MW Francis Turbine for SJVN
Limited. This was the first time SJVN Limited procured these
labyrinths from India. Voith Hydro successfully manufactured
these high precision parts at its Vadodara facility.
Bhilangana HEP, India: Voith Hydro has successfully designed,
manufactured and supplied 6 Nos. 8 MW Francis Runners.
Baner HEP and Binwa HEP, India: Voith Hydro has
successfully designed, manufactured and supplied 1 No. Pelton
Runner for 4 MW unit of Baner HEP and 2 Nos. Pelton Runner
for 3 MW unit of Binwa HEP for HPSEB. Runners are of
improved hydraulic profile and efficiency.
Kopili HEP, India: Voith Hydro received Contract for design,
engineering, manufacture, supply and supervision of erection
and commissioning of 1 no. stainless steel butterfly type MIV and
1 no. stainless steel spherical type MIV for 25 MW and 50 MW
units of Kopili HPP of NEEPCO. The order is under execution.
Tamaris Hydro, Indonesia: Voith Hydro has executed and
currently executing various spare parts orders for various HPPs
of Tamaris Hydro.
Nam Chiem-1A HEP, Vietnam: Voith Hydro is executing a
Contract for supply of electrical and mechanical spare parts.
Dakpsi HEP, Vietnam: Voith Hydro has executed Contract for
supply of spares for turbine and control system.
Khimti 1 HEP, Nepal: Voith Hydro is executing a Contract for
supply of dry type transformer for Himal Power Ltd.

Service Agreements
Baglihar1 I HEP, India: Voith Hydro is providing
maintenance/troubleshooting support for 3x150 MW
Baglihar-I Power Station of JKSPDC by Voith experts
stationed at site. Additional Voith experts are deputed during
planned inspections for assessment of the equipment.
Baglihar II HEP, India: Voith Hydro received Contract for
maintenance/troubleshooting support for 3x150 MW
Baglihar-II Power Station of JKSPDC similar to service
agreement of Baglihar – I.
Emergency Support
Nathpa Jhakri HEP, India: Customer contacted Voith to attend
emergency breakdown of 250 MW (278 MVA) generator due to
earth fault failure. Voith experts together with customer’s
maintenance team worked round the clock and unit was
successfully synchronised within one week.
Namkhot HEP, Vietnam: The unit was in shutdown condition
due to damage of AVR Controller (2 x 5.5 MW). Customer
contacted Voith for emergency assistance to get the unit online.
New controller was supplied and successfully installed by Voith
within weeks time.
Nam Chiem 1A HEP, Vietnam: The power plant was flooded on
19th Aug 2016. Voith deputed expert immediately for the
restoration of 2 units of 5 MW. In a very short duration of 5 days,
both the units were made ready for operation and synchronized.
Ha Rao Quan HEP, Vietnam: Voith Hydro has executed a
Contract for supply and commissioning of AVR controller on
emergency basis.
