Sample itineraries

PHOTOGRAPHY TOURS: In this genre of photography, we try to bring you to wildlife so that you
capture their images in their natural habitats and when they are exhibiting their natural behavior.
Wildlife photography is tedious and a lot of patience is needed.

We sample Kenya and East Africa’s picturesque destinations ideal for photography

Sample: Masai Mara x3, Lake Naivasha, Lake Bogoria, Amboseli

DAY 1: Arrive in Nairobi and transfer to a Nairobi hotel for preparation for onward safari. (This
however will depend on time of arrival)

ACCOMODATION: Half-board

DAY 2: LAKE BOGORIA

After breakfast, depart early for Lake bogoria. This drive will take you through the eastern bloc of
the rift valley as the road meanders don the escarpment into the floor to the rift valley. Pass
through the rift valley town of Nakuru and head northwards to Marigat. From here, you will
descend down in altitude up to Lake Bogoria. This is a magnificent rift valley saline lake located in
the heart of Kenya’s rift valley province. Home to millions of flamingos.

Arrive in time for lunch after which afternoon drive to the lake will be arranged by your tour guide.

DAY 3: Lake Bogoria: Another day of photography of flamingoes and other birds.

DAY 4: LAKE NAIVASHA:

After breakfast, drive southwards passing through Nakuru town again and proceed further to
Naivasha. Naivasha is a dry windy town and home to Kenya’s horticulture. Flower firms surround
this town. Lake Naivasha is situated 2kms from the town and is ideal for photography of aquatic
birds.

ACCOMODATION: Full-board

DAY 5: MASAI MARA:

Drive southwest through the floor of the rift valley on your way to Africa’s best safari destination of
Masai Mara. This drive will take you through Narok town. Narok town is the administrative and
county headquarters of the famous Masai community. Wheat farming and livestock rearing is the
main economic activity in narok and its environs.

Arrive in Masai Mara in time for lunch. Begin your photography in the afternoon game drive. Here
you have a chance of capturing the BIG FIVE plus other wildlife in the sprawling plains. Masai Mara
is famous for the annual migration of wildebeest and zebras that migrate yearly from Serengeti to
Masai Mara crossing the crocodile infested Mara River where they are met by hungry crocodiles.
This spectacle occurs between the months of July-September.

Other activities in Mara include:

Balloon flights: takes place early mornings and offers an aerial view of mara plains and a chance to
spot the animals from an aerial angle.

Village visits: this is a visit to local traditional villages for a chance to see the local way of life and
interact with the Masai people.

Nature walks: this is a walk done by naturalists to explore more than just the animals but also the
flora in the Mara ecosystem

DAY 6: MAASAI MARA: enjoy the game drives in Masai Mara.

DAY 8: NAIROBI: On this day, you will drive back to Nairobi for your onward trip elsewhere

SAMBURU SPECIAL:

SAMBURU GAME RESERVE, SHABA GAME RESERVE AND BUFFALLO SPRING GAME RESERVE;

This is a trip to samburu region where we have three adjacent parks separated by ewaso Nyiro
River. Samburu is known for its special five: these include:

The Somali ostrich

Long neck gerenuk

Reticulated giraffe

Beisa oryx

Grevy zebra

These special breed of animal inhabit these semi arid parks located in the northern frontier Kenya.
Apart from the special 5, samburu also has other wildlife including buffalos, elephants and
abundant birdlife.

We recommend a 5 day tour of these places in order to get better experience of samburu.
3. MAASAI MARA CLASSIQUE

MASAI MARA X 2NIGHTS, LAKE NAIVASHA X1 NIGHT.

DAY 1: Nairobi – Maasai Mara

Depending on the time of arrival in Nairobi. Leave the hustle and bustle of Nairobi city and
head out passing through the eastern bloc of the rift valley. Descend down the meandering
escarpment into the floor of the rift valley and through the beautiful suswa mountains and
wheat fields of narok. Arrive in Mara in time for lunch.

1600HRS: Afternoon game drive. Embark on afternoon game drive in the vast plains of the
Mara. Here, you have a chance to spot big game such as African elephant, giraffe, water
buffalos and a variety of other carnivores and grazers.

1800HRS: Get back to the lodge for an overnight stay.

DAY 2: Mara-Mara: On arrangement with your safari guide, you can go on a full day game
drive exploring the Mara River for a chance to spot African largest reptiles…..Nile crocodiles
and thousands of hippos in the Mara River. Also you still have a chance to look for Mara elusive
predator. The leopard.

After game drive, you have a chance to visit the local Maasai villages for an interaction with the
locals and knowing and learning the way of life of the local people.

1800HRS: Overnight stay at the lodge with a bonfire and local dance before dinner.

DAY 3: Mara-Mara: explore the Maasai Mara some more because this place offers a contrasting
range of fauna and flora not forgetting hundreds of birds’ species including the famous lilac
breasted rollers with options of an early morning balloon ride.

DAY 4:

0800HRS: Depart Maasai Mara for Lake Naivasha arriving in time for lunch. This rift valley lake
is the third largest fresh water lake in the rift valley. Here, you have a chance to take a boat ride
and sample some of the aquatic birds on the lake shores.

Hell’s gate national park. Here, you get a chance to walk with zebras freely inside hell’s gate
and also have an option of bike ride side by side gazelles and impalas.
DAY 5: 0800HRS: Have breakfast at the lodge and depart to Nairobi for your onward trip.
Depending on your departure time, you can have a farewell lunch or dinner at carnivore Simba
salon. After this you will be transferred to the airport for onward travels elsewhere.

MT KENYA CIRCUIT

6NIGHTS 7 DAYS: NAIROBI /ABERDARES/MT. KENYA/NAIVASHA/MASAI MARA

DAY 1: NAIROBI-ABERDARES NATIONAL PARK.

800HRS: After breakfast, depart Nairobi heading northwards passing through pineapple
plantations adjacent to the industrial town of Thika. Further deep into central Kenya, tea
plantations adorn the fertile highlands. Arrive in time for lunch at the famous treetops hotel.
This is a historical hotel where the queen of England resided when she ascended to the throne
in 1952 following the passing on of his father King George the VI.

Aberdares national park is one of Kenya’s best kept water tower where thick indigenous trees
and dense vegetation cover most sections of the park. Plateaus and several summits make the
Aberdares range of mountains a paradise for nature lovers.

1500hrs: head out for game drive. Here you have a chance to spot big game including the giant
forest hog who is an inhabitant of this area.

DAY 2: MT. KENYA

After breakfast, drive out to Nanyuki town and straight to Olpejeta conservancy for mid-
morning game drive. Here you have a chance to spot white and black rhinos side by side and
also learn the history of the only existing northern white rhinoceros.

Exit the park and head to Mt.Kenya safari club for late lunch and overnight stay at the facility.

Here, which Mt.Kenya clearly visible in the background, you can enjoy the view the whole
afternoon at the lodge.

DAY 3: LAKE NAIVASHA:

O700HRS: After breakfast, traverse central Kenya as your journey culminates into Lake
Naivasha.This is Kenya’s 2nd largest fresh water lake and home to the biggest exporters of red
roses. Here, you have optional activities of rock climbing at Hell’s gate national park, bike rides
in the park side by side with zebras, walking safaris and finally boat rides at Lake Naivasha.
Boat rides provide a chance to photograph aquatic birds in close proximity.

DAY 4: MASAI MARA:

0730HRS: After breakfast, depart Naivasha and drive through the floor of the rift valley into the
wheat fields of narok and arrive in Maasai Mara in time for lunch.
