This docum ent is appl icable to transform ers, reactors and power suppl y u n its covered by th e
I EC 61 558 seri es of standards. Th is docum ent deals wi th th e el ectrom agn etic com pati bi l ity
requ irem ents for em ission an d im m uni ty wi th i n th e frequ ency ran ge 0 H z to 400 G H z. N o tests
need to be perform ed at frequ en cies where n o requ irem en ts are specifi ed.

4 General considerations

4.1 Categories
EUT are classifi ed accordin g to th e incorporation of com pon en ts an d el ectronic circu i ts as

7 Test equipment

The description of th e m easurem ent, the m easu rem ent instrum entation, th e m easu rem en t
m ethods an d th e m easurem ent set u p to be used i s g iven in Tabl es A. 1 to A. 1 6.

8 Conditions duri ng testing

I f th e apparatus is part of a system , or can be con nected to auxil iary apparatus, the apparatus
shall be tested wh il e con n ected to the m in im um representative confi g uration of auxi l i ary
apparatus n ecessary to exercise th e ports in a sim ilar m an ner to that descri bed i n CI SPR 32.

I n cases wh ere m an ufacturer´s specification requ ires external filteri n g an d/or sh i eldin g
devices or m easu res th at are clearl y specifi ed in the u ser´s m anu al , the m easu rem ent
requ irem ents of th is docu m ent sh al l be appl i ed wi th th e specifi ed devices or m easures i n
place.

The config urati on an d m ode of operati on du ri n g the m easurem ents sh al l be precisel y n oted in
th e test report. I f th e apparatu s h as a l arg e n um ber of sim ilar ports or ports with m an y sim il ar

9 Measurement procedures

9.1 Emi ssion


The equ ipment und er test ( EUT ) shal l be tested in th e operati ng m ode produ ci n g th e l arg est
em ission in the frequ en cy ban d bei n g in vesti g ated, e. g . based on l im ited pre- tests an d
consisten t with norm al applicati ons. The confi gu ration of the test sam ple shal l be vari ed to
ach ieve m axim um em issi on consistent with typical appl icati ons an d i nstall ati on practice.

The em ission requ irem ents for EUT covered by th is docum en t are g iven on a port by port
basis. Th ese requ irem ents are stated in Tabl es A. 9 to A. 1 6.

Measurem ents sh al l be con ducted in a wel l-defin ed an d reprodu ci bl e m an n er. Th e


m easurem ents m ay be perform ed i n an y order.

9.2 Immunity
The equi pment u nder test ( EUT ) sh al l be tested in the expected m ost susceptible operating
m ode e. g . i den tified by perform in g lim ited pre-tests. This m ode sh all be consistent with

Tests shall be conducted i n a well-defi n ed an d reprodu ci ble m ann er.

The tests sh al l be carri ed ou t in di vidu al l y as si ng l e tests i n sequ ence. The tests m ay be


perform ed i n an y order. I f requirem en ts are i n conflict th e m ost severe takes precedence.

The descripti on of th e test, relevan t gen erator, appropri ate m eth ods, an d th e set up to be
used are g iven in basic stan dards, wh ich are referred to i n Tabl es A. 1 to A. 8.

The con tents of th ese basic stan dards are not repeated here, h owever m odifications or
additi onal inform ation and test l evels needed for the practical applicati on of th e tests are
g iven in this docu m en t.

1 0 Performance criteria

The variety and th e diversity of th e EUT with i n th e scope of this docum en t m akes i t difficu lt to
defin e precise criteri a for the eval uation of th e im m unity test results.

I f, as a resu lt of the appl ication of th e tests defi n ed in th is docu m ent, th e apparatu s becom es
dan gerou s or u nsafe, th e apparatu s sh al l be deem ed to h ave fail ed th e test.

A fu ncti onal descri pti on an d a defi n iti on of perform ance cri teri a, duri ng or as a consequence
of th e EM C testing , sh all be provided by th e m an ufacturer an d n oted i n th e test report, based
on on e of th e fol lowi n g criteria for each test as specifi ed i n Tables A. 1 to A. 8.

Performance criterion A : The EUT sh all con tin u e to operate as i ntended duri n g and after th e
test. N o deg radati on of perform ance or loss of fu ncti on is al lowed below a perform ance level
specified by th e m anu factu rer, wh en th e EUT is u sed as i ntended. The perform ance level m ay
be repl aced by a perm issible l oss of perform ance. I f th e m inim um perform ance level or th e
perm issibl e perform ance l oss is n ot specifi ed by th e m an ufacturer, ei th er of these m ay be
deri ved from the product description an d docum entati on an d what the user m ay reason abl y
expect from the EUT if u sed as i nten ded.

Performance criterion B : The EUT shal l conti n ue to operate as i ntended after the test. N o
degradation of perform an ce or l oss of function is al lowed below a perform ance level specifi ed
by th e m an ufacturer, when th e EUT is u sed as i ntended. Th e perform ance l evel m ay be
repl aced by a perm issible l oss of perform ance. Du rin g th e test, deg radation of perform ance is
however all owed. No chan ge of actual operating state or stored data is allowed. I f th e
m inim um perform ance l evel or th e perm issibl e perform ance l oss is n ot specified by the
m anu factu rer, ei th er of these m ay be deri ved from the product descri pti on an d docum entati on
an d what the user m ay reason abl y expect from th e EUT if used as i ntended.

Performance criterion C : Tem porary loss of fun ction is all owed, provi ded th e function is self-
