LESSON 1:
OPENER: Is inclusive education the same as special education? In what ways are the two
terms similar or different from each other?

• We can say that inclusive education and special education is important in every child.
Inclusive education is a system that both students with special needs and general students
get equal benefits. In inclusive education students can learn values like respecting and
accepting their differences. Special Education is a system of education that responds to the
needs of the children with disabilities outside the mainstream education and it was
designed separately in accordance with the needs of individual students. As its meaning
special education refers to the structuring and issuing of learning and teaching strategies to
people with learning difficulties (Morton & Gordon, 3). Such difficulties can be hearing
impairments, vision impairments, physical disabilities, emotional disturbance, behavioral
disorders, intellectual disability, speaking impairments, or learning disorders requiring
special education. Some students may suffer one or a combination of several conditions.
Despite of the differences of the two they are able to give students the learning’s that they
need. Education is really big deal to all of us especially to the students with disabilities
because they are giving the chance and opportunity to showcase their talent and to not just
suffer with their imperfections but to see the beautiful world and able to learn from it.

ACTIVITY 1:

Interview a teacher or an administrator in a school in your community and know

their policies and practices on inclusive education. After which, illustrate the third
panel of illustration matching the label “reality” from the data you collected from
the interview. Write a two to three paragraph explanation about your illustration.

• I interviewed a teacher from elementary school and she shared ideas or thoughts
that she been through in terms of inclusive education. Inclusive Education is one thing that
we should acknowledge and appreciate because it’s a huge factor to create change in
education. It aims at ensuring that all children of school-going age who experience barriers
to learning, including those who are disabled, will be able to access inclusive, quality, free,
primary and secondary education on an equal basis with other young people in the
communities in which they live. She shared that in school, our job is not just to teach but we
can also be a parent for every student. As a teacher, communication is great tool in order to
know what’s the need of the student and that’s part of the practices that should on top or it
should be elevated more than anything else. As part of the policy and practices we should
give equal treatment, equal resources and teaching them how to be a good person and
teaching them how to enjoy life. She’d share also that she had students with disabilities and
I really admire her for being tough and adamant. We knew that we are very diverse but in
education we should be united no matter where we come from, our race, size, gender, and
disabilities. Let us give the freedom to them to enjoy the world and enjoy how accessible it
is. Teachers nowadays choose to be flexible and transparent despite of the negativity,
hardships, deficiency in education because someone believed in them and someone needs
them.
Based on the data I’ve collected I come up with that illustration. That illustration
simply says that in reality learning should be accessible for all and we will not let things
hurdle or simply be a barrier. No matter how hard the life is as a teacher we still choose to
make it accessible. Like in the different illustration integration and inclusion has its wall
and pedestal and for me that’s basically referring to discrimination and barriers. Those
other illustrations truly give equal treatment but for me in reality everything can be change
depends on the needs. Having no barriers at all can give will to people to be more
expressive and being able to see it in full access because that’s what they deserve.

ACTIVITY 2: Create a campaign infographics that presents and summarizes your

understanding of the term inclusion. Refer to the rubrics for evaluation.

LESSON 2:

ACTIVITY 1:
Go over the DO 21, s. 2019 on the Policy Guidelines on the K to 12 Basic Education
Program, specifically on the pages suggested below. Explain how this policy shape
the Basic Education Curriculum of the country.
 Page 5, number 14
• This section encompasses the learners where they are provided by Department of
Education some opportunities in order for them to access quality education like the
Flexible Learning Options ( FLO) including the Alternative Learning System (ALS),
Alternative Delivery Modes (ADMs) and the K to 12 Program. This policy helps us to fulfill
education because some of us are not gifted or even privilege. I think its better for learners
to have options for them to choose where they are comfortable and affordable to take. The
learners are the foundation of education and having this policy increasing the chances and
hopes of every child reach their dreams in life.

 Page 6, number 16
•Inclusive Education is the core principle of K to 12 Basic Education Program. It says that
Inclusive Education is about putting the right to education into action by including all
learners, respecting their diverse needs, abilities and characteristics and eliminating all
forms of discrimination in the learning environment. Its very important in shaping the
Basic Education Curriculum because they giving every child the right, security, and safety
in education. This section help us to understand that we have a lot of things that education
can offer to us.

 Page 96, annex 3

• In this section it encompasses or it talks about the Flexible Learning Options. We have the
Alternative Delivery Modes (ADMs) and Alternative Learning System (ALS). The
Government offers this because they can help us to achieve sustainable education. This
flexibility is helpful for learners who are risk of dropping out, children and youth who are
out of school, adults who failed to finish their study, learners with special needs and etc.
Sometimes we experienced circumstances and struggles that is unforeseen or unexpected
and at least the government somehow ready. Like this pandemic its been years that we
experiencing this and ADMs or Alternative Delivery Modes happened and experienced by
the students like blended learning. During this crisis also we experiencing financially
struggle and some student chose to seek for job and at least we have the ALS or Alternative
Learning System to help and support students. It is important that we have this kind of
policy because somehow we have the chances to look for. This policy also have high hopes
to encourage every children to fight for the betterment and this chances will give them
motivation to strive up to achieve their dreams in life.

 Page 141, annex 5

• This section is about the inclusive education policy framework for Basic Education. It tells
that this framework provide the needs of the learners especially for the rights of every
Filipino learner. I know that it would be very important that we have this to ensure and
secure the needs of every learner. This is also a standard that will surely shapes the Basic
Education for the better.

ACTIVITY 2:
Make an essay on the “Importance of Education for All (EFA)”. Typically, an
effective essay will contain a minimum of 300 words. Your response will be scored
depending on the following criteria:

Education in ones life is the most crucial thing that deserves to be treasured and it is a great
opportunity to have. Everyone is capable in education no matter where we come from, our
race, color, size, and beliefs. We are all united in education despite of our imperfections and
disabilities we all deserve education. Here in Philippines education is really a big deal for
everyone because they know that it is fundamental and needs of every child. It is important
not just because they are learning but they are making the best version of themselves.

In our country we have leaders, the government, and different sectors who care and render
their service for people like in education we have the government and Department of
Education who cares in the lives of every learner. They are making the field of education
better with the policies, laws, and programs that they offer. Like the education for all, this
means ensuring that all learners access to basic education and also to assure their safety,
security, and their rights. In education it is important that it is accessible because it
improves people’s live. It helps us to read, write, learn, and communicate or the functional
literacy and the thing is we are developing more the opportunities in life. Education for all
is something that everyone should understand and know. Here in Philippines we can say
that many of us can’t read and write and somehow we are less fortunate. There are other
problems the poverty, corruptions, and this pandemic but education for all is still there to
support us, to sustain the our needs and to give us high hopes, encouragement, and
freedom to show who we are and prove that we are capable of. For example this K to 12
Program, K-12 extends compulsory schooling to grade 11 and grade 12, adding two years
in secondary school. This is something they offer because they see that every students
needs it for them to be more prepared and attain basic education.

In our life education is a gift that brings us to fullest and better life. I believe that if we have
education no one can take it away from us. As I said, no matter who we are despite of our
imperfections and disabilities, we are part of this world that can make a change. As a
learner I still have courage and never losing hope that we can be the youth that Jose Rizal
referred to.
