5. How do you identify irregular nouns and write three examples?

A//. Irregular nouns are identified by the fact that they do not have the suffix -s or -es

plurals, some do not (such as sheep), and others (such as woman and half) form the

plural by modifying an internal vowel (women) or a consonant (half) (halves).

E.g., woman – women, calf – calves, fungus – fungi.

6. What is the difference between abstract and concrete nouns?

A//. The main difference between these two is that the abstract nouns refer to things that

we cannot perceive with our five senses in the physical world, like ideas, thoughts,

conditions, or feelings. In the other hand, concrete nouns are the things that we can feel

with our five senses in the physical world, like people, materials, food, air, water.

7. Define possessive nouns. Give two examples of possessive nouns in sentences.

A//. Possessive nouns show ownership. Possessive comes from the same root as

possession, something you own. E.g., That is Fernando’s book. / Bintsaleh’s eyes are the

most beautiful eyes I’ve seen.

8. What is the difference between count and non-count nouns?

A//. There are two types of nouns: countable and uncountable. Countable nouns, such

as an apple, two apples, three apples, and so on, can be counted. Uncountable nouns,

such as air, rice, and water, cannot be numbered. The main difference is that countable

nouns can be counted and non-countable nouns cannot be counted.

relative, interrogative, demonstrative, indefinite. One example of possessive pronoun in

a sentence is: that notebook is hers. Other example, but for interrogative pronoun is:

A//. Parts of speech are important in grammar because with these ones we can assemble

a sentence into a complete sentence that conveys the intended meaning. Without them

we wouldn’t be able to write a proper sentence with meaning.

A//. They play a big role in constructing writing because we need them to form a sentence

so that it is coherent and in accordance with the grammar of the sentence.
