Topic: The Steel Windpipe-Lesson One


Class: VII
Time: 45 mins

Objective:
Students will be able to:
-relate an event where they felt scared and unsure; link this idea to the doctor.
-looking at the language select words that reflect the doctor’s fears

Lesson Structure Time

Introductory/ Starter
The tr will ask the stds to relate a time when they were unsure about themselves, felt 05 mins
incompetent.
The tr will write down key word that stds share about their feelings on the board. These will
then be referred to while discussing the character of the doctor

Main Activity/ Development


The tr will ask a volunteer std to read the first two paragraphs while the other silent listen to the 15 mins
reading. She will ask the students to what image is created in their minds. Std will be asked to
share what words helped create that image.

(The idea of foreboding will be introduced) The tr will ask stds to predict what do they feel will
be the plot/ storyline/ mood that the draw from the first two lines.

Stds will then work in pair and read till line, I groaned, smoked and drank cold tea without
milk. They will be asked to highlight as they read along the thoughts and concerns of the
doctor.

The cooperative grouping strategy 2-4-6 will be used and stds will share their finds with their 10mins
peers.
They will then be asked to share a few points with the class.

Plenary

The tr will display the following statement on the screen and ask stds to comment whether this 15 mins
is true in reference to what they know about the doctor.

Fear can paralyze a person.

Homework
Read from line, ‘Once I fell asleep’ to ‘Don’t let them into the operating theatre!’ I ordered.
