Multimodal Texts

Multimodal texts incorporate two or more semiotic systems such as the linguistic, visual, audio, gestural, and spatial systems. They can be presented in paper, digital, or live forms. Identifying the subject and main point of a multimodal text may involve determining an explicitly stated main idea or extracting an implicit main point based on suggestive features like images or sounds. Meaning is created in visual and audio elements through techniques like lighting, camera angles, composition, body language, sound effects, music, and narration.
