INTRODUCTION

It is a pity that many churches today have ignored the path of raising men
of FAITHFULNESS and ORDER – those who will faithfully carry on the
authentic Christ–kind of life which was handed over to us by the fathers of faith.
We might not be happy with what the Christian faith will turn out to be if we
are not very conscious in passing on to the next generation the faith, values and
beliefs of the Kingdom.
We are the light of the world and the major duty of light is to send
darkness packing but are we doing today? The very unfortunate thing
happening today is that we, who are carrying the mandate of the light which is
meant to shine forth; instead of sending darkness packing, go on to invite
darkness over into our midst and gradually allow it fade out the ray power of
our shining light. One thing we have not yet understood is that darkness does
not come because it loves to just come; it comes only to anywhere light is not
in existence. Darkness is simply the absence of light.
Against the original plan of God for the Church, she is not living up to
the blueprint. It is so unfortunate that the Church has misplaced her priority in
the purpose and plan of God for her in the earth. All around, we see a Church
that is far less in stature and influence than her ordained potential but many of
us go on with life as though we are at our very best in the Kingdom. We are
unfortunately becoming onlookers whose influence in the world is getting weak
that it is being ignored and set aside as non-existent. It is so regrettable that the
imitative is not with us!
At every luring season of the enemy, God is always raising a Phinehas
who is willing to go in to end the rage of Jehovah against the land. Enough of
many of us keeping quiet and we all continue suffering right in the place where
our Father is the Sole Owner! Someone has got to speak up and if necessary,
die for the TRUTH!
It is so unfortunate that the Church has swollen in number but we are so
far from growing fat in our Christian characters and the reason is that shepherds
have succeeded in taking us through the path that enlarges the stomach of the
physical man and continues to shrink the spirit man in us. Instead of building
our lives on the Solid Rock which fails not, we busy ourselves with building
large auditoria to accommodate the rising number of fans, most of who don’t
follow Christ in life and conduct, making what should be to our advantage a
disadvantage.
If we take our stand well as much as we have had influence around the
world, then places like Lagos, Edo, Ogun, Rivers, Osun etc in a nation like
Nigeria will have been samples of model Christian life. But what do we have?
Unrest and discomfort from these places; news that sadden the heart coming
from these quarters where we make boast of our religious affluence and wealth.
I wonder what has gone wrong sometimes.
We have more noise than effects and we only manifest, demonstrating
power just among ourselves and the reason is not farfetched; it is simply
because we are raising weak and feeble men – will the Lord not need to help us?
We have become soldiers with cracked armour, prone to injury and bruises on
the battlefront. We are unable to go into the world while our major call is to go
into the world, to give to it the very light which we continue preserving in our
bosoms. We are meant to be soldiers without frontiers – if we die for this noble
cause, we die!
It continues to baffle me whenever I see the rate at which there are
wrongs in the Bride of Christ and discover that as soldiers of Christ, we are
less-equipped to face these numerous and constantly showing challenges. We
lack the conquering spirit that is capable of possessing grounds for God. We
seem to lack the thirst for risking our lives, a life into an adventure into the
premises of the King’s manuscript for our lives and a life borne out to suffer.
What exactly is our problem? Or do you think it was ever part of God’s
plan that the Jehovah Witnesses will outshine, outevangelize, or outrun
Christians in every way?

We might not accept this truth but the fact remains, through statistics,
that the Mormon Church sends out more missionaries than all the Christian
churches in Africa, UK, Canada and some other countries (with many
Christians in them). This group of people alone has more than 24,000 young
men on the march as at today (by the time you are reading this book, they might
have increased, except we have REPENTED) and the mandate each one of the
young men has is to baptize two new converts every year; each one of those
young men spending 500 hours doing door to door ‘evangelism’. They become
Mormon fanatics as at the age of ten and you cannot easily convince them away
from that path which they have chosen and are baptized into!

On the flip, you just come to our Churches, what do you see? What is the
average Church girl doing at ten or fifteen? Ask the average young boy in your
Church what he is thinking about and you will marvel, possibly weep, in
reaction to your amazement as to what it is that many are making out of what
they learn.

Recently, we are beginning to even have supposed believers denying the

faith and publicly claiming that Christianity is scam which makes me wonder,
for these men and women who claim to have been believers for decades, many
of them being adults, in their 30s and 40s, what has gone wrong and how they
got saved in the first place. It is very saddening.

This book was never written with the aim of insulting or criticizing but it
is written for the purpose of awakening us to rise up and take up the challenge
of raising a next generation of true believers who will be in tune with Kingdom
life and principles.
We cannot afford to continue this way and expect that the Kingdom of
God will remain unshakable. We must be ready to SEEK, BUILD and
CHANGE LIVES for Christ, through the instrumentality of accurate Biblical
discipleship.

“And now to Him who can keep you ON YOUR FEET, STANDING
TALL in his bright presence, fresh and celebrating – to our one God, our
only Saviour, through Jesus Christ, our Master, be glory. Majesty, strength,
and rule before all time, and now, and to the end of all time. Amen.”(Jude 24-
25).

In all, I commend this book to the LORD that it may accomplish His
purpose and fulfill His heart’s desire among all people and especially in His
Body. Amen.

CHAPTER 1

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

The church of God today has been distracted because of the

overemphasis on people’s problems and the omission of raising real men of
valour and mighty men who can bear the Ark of the Kingdom responsibility
without falling.
We have today more messages about demons than messages that point to
Jesus, the Solution to every kind of problems. People’s prayers are now much
more about the devil than about Jesus Christ; so our church members are more
familiar with the devil than with our Lord Jesus Christ.
The other day, a man of God telling people that there are differences
between demons in Europe, America and other continents and that of Africa –
what a loss of focus of call; we are not called to ‘exalt’ demons and give them
recognition but to ‘raise’ Jesus so He can draw men to Himself and displace the
enemy. This exactly is why we have an average church member today living in
fear and panic because they have been hearing and ruminating on messages of
demons and demonism – and that creates in man the spirit of fear.
The Church should get more concerned about raising a generation of
mighty men – like David did for his warriors who would carry on the faith that
we have read about – that same faith we were told was received from the
fathers of faith.
The kind of faith and revival Moses Orimolade Tunolase ignited and is
till on till date birthing men like the Bishop David Oyedepo; the true kind of
faith Joseph Ayo Babalola birthed which has reproduced a man like Dr. Daniel
Olukoya; the faith that was received by Pa. Josiah Akindayomi which we see a
multiple of it in Pastor Enoch Adeboye and many others of our fathers which
we received with fear and trembling when we heard about it and desire so much
to be baptized into their kind of faithlife and even more than theirs.
The next generation must be carried along by imparting into them the
Christian values according to the Word of God. Not this noise-making and
jamboree kind of musical showcase some of our ministers bring today which
most of them don’t produce any meaningful kingdom results. Not these kinds
of ‘prophets’ with handkerchiefs and bottled waters all around us without a
solution to problems of men – but piling up more problems and difficulties for
people.
I see a generation that won’t be able to stand the errors paraded by many
who claim to be of the Father while in actual sense the Father never sent them.
Christ never waited for the disciples to come to Him, He rather went out to pick
them – or better say to choose them. There is a need urgently for a new set of
believers with unquenchable zeal to see that the fire of revival is ignited once
again all around our homes, churches, campuses and the world at large.
A generation that will arise to challenge the philosophical insults and
blackmails against Jehovah by uncircumcised unbelievers. The time has come
for the children of the LIGHT to arise and blast out every appearance of
darkness in our neighbourhoods, schools, campuses and even churches – as it is.

The Apostle Paul instructed his spiritual son, Timothy to “… entrust

these (ALL TEACHINGS HE HAS COMMITTED INTO HIS HANDS) to
faithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2 Tim 2:2) [Emphasis
Mine]. Paul’s command to Timothy (and in turn to us) is very clear: equipping
the next generation of Christians is of the highest priority if we will
experience transgenerational impact. The highest priority in the heart of
Jehovah so that His everlasting and unending Kingdom might be established on
earth is DISCIPLESHIP – a discipleship without self-inputed religious ideas
and Pharisaical piety. A discipleship that does not discriminate between people,
their backgrounds or colours.
In fact, Paul’s command also implies that a central concern when
choosing and training the next generation of Christian leaders is making sure
they are able to train and equip the following generation.

This is the time for the Phinehas generation to arise and face the problem
of the Church with boldness, yet not breaking ranks. These sets of people are
coming to set in place every disorderliness that has been in the Church up till
now but they will be doing so without dishonour. We cannot continue watching
the church going down the ditch every other day. Enough of the assaults and
insults by the ones who don’t even have a bit of the knowledge of our Father.

The invasion of hirelings and wolves in the Body of Christ is so

appalling and we seem to be lackadaisical about this. Men who keep on
siphoning the sheep and invading the homes of the vulnerables, raping and
stealing from God’s people. We can decide to deny that these things are
happening but we know that many horrible things are being perpetuated by men
who call themselves MEN OF GOD yet they have never met God because if a
man meets God, he will never remain like he was before the encounter. Moses
met Him and the glow on his face sent many away from him; Isaiah met Him
and he couldn’t but cry out loud that he has seen “…the King, the Lord of
hosts!” (Isaiah 6:5); Saul met Him on the way to Damascus and he transformed
into a ruthless Kingdom weapon that the enemy couldn’t withstand.

A single encounter with God doesn’t leave a man same way he was
before the encounter because with that encounter, a shift always comes in the
design of the natural man, just as it happened to Jacob in Bethel and his thigh
shifted.

These are the days for the righteousness of our Father to be established
on His Holy Mountain and also draw men from every corner of the world to
Himself to worship the King of Glory.
CHAPTER TWO

SPIRITUAL PIONEERS

In the military, a pioneer is that soldier who is saddled with the

responsibility to form roads, dig ditches and make bridges, as an army advances,
going before others, into the wilderness, preparing the way for them to follow
as trailblazer, pacesetter, the one who charts the path for others to follow. God
is looking for men as such in such a time as ours. Soldiers who will be vessels
for His end time glory in the earth. Men who will walk beyond the limitations
of their time and generation.

While most men feel that they have to settle for the status quo, and seem
satisfied with whatever is made available for their generation, there are some
who are usually spiritual pioneers, men who go the and every length for God
and His Kingdom, not minding what it’s going to cost them physically or any
other wise.

These are men with prophetic vision and perspectives. Men who are in
the order of Issachar – understanding the times and season. These are men who
are able to discern what their brethren should be doing per time – and their
brethren will surely obey and follow them. Men of spiritual strength and
stamina – not those staggering in their stance for the Lord. Men who won’t be
swayed by the evil tides of the day but men who refuse to be distracted by the
spirit of the present age.

Men like Enoch who was such a man of faith who lived in a time when
men found it difficult to walk with God. Just like we have it today, the earth
was also filled then with violence; the ungodliness of men was a stench that
reached to God. The amazing thing for me is, there were no Churches available
for Enoch to attend so he could learn HOW TO LIVE FOR GOD, yet he
reached beyond the limitations of his generation and decided to walk with God,
against all odds. That’s why I strongly believe that ours is a blessed generation
though we don’t live as though we have been blessed by God. We have the
Bible, history and examples of just men who should be models for living our
lives for the LORD, wholly and fully and also men who were horrible and too
bad to be followed yet we make the choice of following those the latter. May
the LORD have mercy on us. Amen.

The Bible says in Genesis 5:24 that:

“And Enoch WALKED WITH GOD: and he was not; for GOD TOOK
HIM.”

By way of report of the happening in the account of Genesis above, the

writer of Hebrews couldn’t be doing any justice to the matter of faith is he
hadn’t added Enoch so he also said:

“BY FAITH Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and
was not found, because GOD HAD TRANSLATED HIM: for before his
translation he had this testimony, that HE PLEASED GOD. But WITHOUT
FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE HIM: for he that cometh to God
must believe that he is, and that HE IS A REWARDER OF THEM THAT
DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM.”(Hebrews 11:5-6)

One question I am led to ask you my dear reader right now is “do you
please the LORD?” To be able to accurately respond to that question, you will
have to answer the question of FAITH first. It is so unfortunate that many
believers have lost faith right in the midst of the noise and struggles of the
world. The faith of many has been LOST IN TRANSIT and they keep traveling
the journey of destiny as though all is well.

If we will be marked and counted as part of those that Jesus can trust for
the work of bringing revival into the landscape, then we must be men who He
can trust Himself with when it comes to FAITH. Where is your FAITH? Are
you in or out? Stop sitting on the fence and try to be where the fire is burning
and grace is made available to flourish. What was the result of the steadfastness
of Enoch’s walk with the Father? He was translated by God Himself that he
should not see death. I want to strongly believe that that was the first time
‘rapture’ of a man would be experienced because it actually happened just as
rapture was described to look like.

Beloved, God is looking out for you, to be a part of those who would
stand out like Enoch and become a spiritual pioneer wherever you are placed
and located for the emergence and establishment of the Kingdom of God. I
implore you to strive to stand out and not blend with the mass of the people.
Why? You are different and no matter how much men try to pull you into their
unrighteous lifestyle, do not give in to their allurement.

There are souls we have read about in the Scriptures and in the history of
the church who were pioneers of the faith wherever they were located. They
have left for us legacy of holiness, faith, courage, bravery, hope and love. Men
whose lives are a witness for or against us that God through us can do
exceeding abundantly above all we can ask or think.

This is the time to ARISE and live above our circumstances.

Let us refuse to be bound by the limitations of our generation.

We don’t have to stand and stagnate in the status quo - we can reach
forth into the deep things of God and stop being peripheral with God. God has
had men who had quenched the violence of fire, stopped the mouth of lions,
turned to flight the armies of aliens and subdued kingdoms and He is not going
to stop with all of that – He is willing that it should be greater than that with us
and in the coming generation. He longs for more of Himself and His Kingdom
being established in the earth. God is looking for spiritual pioneers who are
willing to take the battle to the gates of the enemies without fidgeting and
scared of the fiery darts of the enemy.

He is searching for men who will break forth upon this present dark
world with such a manifestation of His glory, reaping its massive harvest and
ushering in the King of kings to come take His place in the entire kingdoms of
this world, after they have become the kingdoms of our God and of His Christ,
Jesus Christ. The Lord shall find me worthy, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
CHAPTER THREE
CALLED, CHOSEN AND FAITHFUL
God is raising an end time army for Himself. He is raising a generation
that will be useful for Him to bring back His glory into our nations and the
world entirely. I perceive God sitting on His throne garnering all available
resources to make men who could cause a divine transformation in the world
today. He is looking for men who will be “… battle axes and weapons of
war…” (Jeremiah 51: 20).
He is looking for those He can use to bring down strongholds,
imaginations and strategies of the evil one, men who can conquer kingdoms,
shut the mouths of lions, administer justice, quench the fury of the flames,
those He can use their weaknesses to make them strong to do mighty and great
things for Him.
God has always been in the art of choosing and using men to carry out
the great and mighty works He desired to do in the earth and that is to mean
that He depends on men to carry out His plan, will, purpose and assignment
here on earth (not as in the case of being weak and has changed from being the
Omnipotent). He has actually done this on His own decision in wisdom and
sovereignty to carry out His assignments and activities on earth through man.
Men, on the other hand, have also always wanted to be used of God to do great
things for Him.
However, there is always an inner desire to be chosen as a vessel in
God’s hands to do mighty kingdom dealings but as much as there are very
many volunteers and available vessels in the world today, God seems to be
ignoring them or better say God is not interested in their cry to be used of Him.
This singular attitude of God baffled me and I got concerned, crying unto
the Father why this should be with sincerity of heart and words like “God, why
won’t you just pick the available ones and make them what you want and
just leave these ones who are very stubborn aside so they can learn their
lessons the hard way”. The response I got was that “I don’t choose volunteers,
I choose my men and take them through necessary processes to become what I
have in My mind for them”. That was a shocking revelation for me because it
made me have a rethink over the common prayer of some of our brethren in
churches and campus fellowships today who always fast and pray that God will
use them greatly. Sometimes I wonder if many of these beloved brethren are
going to be just ‘disposables’ or later become ‘durables’ in the Master’s
vineyard.
As believers, we ought to understand the fact that God cannot be remote-
controlled to give in to our personal desires as men. God never lowers His
standards about Kingdom living for any man’s sake but when He discovers that
we are adamant ongoing our own way just like Balaam, He permits us to do
what we want to do.
However, I have always come to realize that the permissive will of God
most times has never helped man reach God’s exact destination for him in life.
The book of Revelation tells us about the triumph of the Lamb of God
but we are also told that the Lamb has an army of disciples through whom He
fights His battles and overcomes. These disciples are said to be CALLED,
CHOSEN and FAITHFUL:
“The Lamb is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with
Him are the CALLED and CHOSEN and FAITHFUL.” (Revelation 17:14)
Many are called, few are chosen, yet fewer are still faithful. These are the
overcomers spoken of in the book of Revelation. They are the disciples of
Christ who have not only been accepted by God but who have been tested by
Him through many circumstances and approved by Him. There were many who
believed in Jesus when He was here on earth, but He did not entrust Himself to
all of them.
“When Jesus was in Jerusalem.......many believed in His name,
beholding His signs which He was doing. But Jesus, on His part, was
not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men.” (John 2:23-24)
Jesus knew that majority of those who believed in Him still sought their
own and came to Him only for personal blessings. Their sins had been forgiven
but they did not desire to be overcomers. To be an overcomer, it is expedient to
note that one must long to be free from seeking one’s own thing or self.
Many believers today are willing to be applauded in the work of the
Master but are not ready to submit under the mighty hand of God to be
graciously used by Him anyway He feels like – they have an idea of what they
want to be sent to do and also where to be sent to. Many want to enjoy the
applause for public ministry but they are not willing to be incubated in the
secret place of the most high, where the labours of becoming like Him always
take place. Many of the errors we have in ministry today came as a result of
error in the upbringing of men who only get to know the glamour around
ministry but not the intense labour that goes into what brings about that which
they applaud, in the secret place.
When Gideon gathered his army to fight the enemies of Israel, he had
32,000 men with him. But God knew that they were not all wholehearted and
so God had to cut them down in number. The fearful were sent home first but
10,000 still remained. These were then taken down to the river and tested there
at the river – they were taken to the place of the living water; the river of life
that does not dry but only meant for the overcomers of challenges of life.
Unfortunately, only 300 passed the test and were approved by God:
“Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people that were with him,
rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the
Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.
And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many
for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves
against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me. Now therefore go to,
proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is FEARFUL and
AFRAID, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there
returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten
thousand. And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many;
bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it
shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall
go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee,
the same shall not go. So he brought down the people unto the water: and the
LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue,
as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that
boweth down upon his knees to drink. And the number of them that lapped,
putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of
the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water. And the LORD said
unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and
deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every
man unto his place. So the people took victuals in their hand, and their
trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and
retained those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him
in the valley. (Judges 7:1-8).

The way those 10,000 people drank water from the river to quench their
thirst was the means God used to determine who qualified to be in God’s army
under Gideon. They never knew they were being tested. 9700 of them forgot all
about the enemy while kneeling down to satisfy their thirst but 300 of them
remained on their feet, at alert, drinking the water with cupped hands, with their
swords firmly by their sides.
We must understand that it is in ordinary things of life that God tests us -
in our attitude to money, pleasure, earthly honour and comfort etc. Like
Gideon’s soldiers, God tests us with those little things He allows to flow into
our care for guidance.
Many young men don’t realize that God is testing their faithfulness with
the opposite sex in students’ fellowships by making them Presidents of the
fellowship which gives them unhindered access to sisters. But what do they do
when they are allowed into the lives of these sisters? Many go ahead to mess
the divine plan of God up with their carelessness with these sisters just because
they are privileged to have an oversight on them, for a period of time.
Jesus warned us not to be weighed down with the cares of this world
when He said we should, “be on guard, that our hearts may not be weighted
down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day
come on us suddenly like a trap.” (Luke 21:34 – paraphrased by me)
Paul exhorted the Corinthian Church that“both those who have wives
should be as though they had none; and those who weep, as though they did
not weep; and those who rejoice, as though they did not rejoice; and those
who buy, as though they did not possess; and those who use the world, as
though they did not make full use of it; for the form of this world is passing
away...........I say this to secure your undistracted devotion to the Lord.” (1
Corinthians 7:29-35)
We must not allow anything in the world distract us from being totally
devoted to the LORD. There are things in the world that are legitimate and right,
in their own sense, which are usually greater snares than the sinful things –
because the legitimate things look innocent and harmless. For instance, it is
dangerous to lie to cover up your father but culturally, it is wrong to expose
your father; you cover him up first before then going privately to let him know
how bad you feel – that’s if you can even face him. That’s a difficult one for a
culturally-minded man.
We can quench our thirst, but we must cup our hands and drink just the
bare minimum necessary. As a believer, your mind is expected to be set on
things above and not on things beneath here on earth. You must be very willing
to forsake all things for the Kingdom if you are going to be true disciples of
Christ Jesus and like a rubber band that is stretched far apart, your mind can
attend to the things of earth that are necessary but once those things have been
attended to, like the rubber band springing back to its normal position, when
released from its tension, your mind too should spring back to eternal things.
This is what it means to have our minds “set on things above and not on the
things that are on earth.” (Colossians 3:2)
It is so unfortunate that many believers have their minds stretched now
and then to think about eternal things and when released, come back to their
normal mode of being occupied with the things of this world. Paul exhorted
Timothy saying, “No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs
of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier”
(2 Timothy 2:4).
Paul was not telling Timothy how to be saved but rather was telling him
how he could be an effective soldier of the Christ. “Be diligent to present
yourself approved to God” (2 Timothy 2:15).
Timothy had already been accepted by God; he only needed to be
diligent to gain God’s approval on a constant basis. Paul himself had been
placed in the Christian ministry by Christ because he had gained God’s
approval (1 Timothy 1:12).
Paul can be said to be among the called, chosen and faithful - and he
really longed that Timothy should also be in that list too as his son in the faith.
Paul did not just get to the point of being approved by God, he actually was
tested before he was approved. You must also have it in your mind that as a
believer, you are being tested too and the quality of your call will be
determined by your response to the call and diligence in keeping up with the
approval of the Master.
Right from history immemorial, I have never seen God commit Himself
to anyone before testing him – He doesn’t take chances with the man He is
willing to use for the growth and expansion of the Kingdom, in the earth.
The accounts in the Scriptures of the testing of various men - some of
whom were approved and some of whom were rejected - can therefore be of
great value to you as a disciple, and that is because those stories were written
for your instruction.
Check the lives of men like Abraham, Jacob, Esau, Moses, Samson,
David, Daniel etc and you will discover the kind of people they were – whether
they were approved or rejected and what exactly made those rejected to be
disapproved?
May the Lord help you to be approved, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
CHAPTER FOUR

BRANDED FOR EXPLOITS

In the conflict between God and satan, man practically occupies a very
critical position. God is always willing to accomplish His goodly plan on earth
yet satan tries in many ways to frustrate and destroy His plans, especially His
plan for the man He Himself created, in His own likeness and image.

Between the two entities, man stands in a special position, sitting at the
gate to take the decision of whose plan will come to pass; if man takes the right
stand, God’s plan will be accomplished and satan’s subtle plot will be
destroyed but if man does not take the right stand, God’s plan will be hindered
and satan’s scheme will succeed. This critical position can cause God’s will to
succeed and satan’s to fail, or it can cause satan’s subtle scheme to succeed and
God to be frustrated. The bursting forth of revival in a particular generation
depends solely on man, depending on the position and posture man takes.

Many times, people have kept on asking that revival will come but I am
very much of the opinion that until a man is found, just like in Ezekiel 22:30,
God seems to be incapacitated and disallowed from entering Lagos because
they’re campaigning. Everyone who wants to be used of God to be a light
bearer in his or her generation must be a separated person.

The way things are right now, it seems as though everyone in this
generation is walking the same path and swept into the same current but it gets
to a point in our lives that we come to the realization of the Way and choose to
either follow it or not. Ours is a generation that seems out of touch with the
frequency of heaven and the devil seems to be operating freely in every sphere
of life – even in the church and all this is because we allowed him through our
broken walls.
At a time, when it was as if the whole world were serving the devil and
already getting used to the gods of the Babylonians, Daniel and his three
friends, though still very young, stood up to be different from the norms of their
days and that is what is called separation. As soon as they stood up, there was
clearly a separation from the world. It was as if others were waving a blue flag
and they were waving a white one. These men refused to follow the culture and
lifestyle of Babylon. They were the separated ones. They could not eat what
others could eat easily. They could not drink what others were drinking with
ease. They could not do what others did without caution. They were clearly
different from others in everything.

The truth is that today‘s generation is the same as Daniel’s time; not at
all different from each other. It is not only the unbelievers that are under the
ruling of Babylon; even the so-called people of God, so-called Christians, are
also in the same captivity. If you don’t believe, I suggest you check us out
during our festive periods when we find it so easy to sweep under the carpet our
Christian sanity! Many believers, in the bid to be amongst the happening
preachers, even though they are wrong and not carrying the Spirit of Christ,
attend ceremonies and put aside our holiness and consecration so we won’t
look like the black sheep of the party.

I pity some of our sisters in church today with what they do on their
wedding – most of them who never did wear heavy make-ups before claim it is
only once you ‘mark’ your wedding so you have to do it right. How right? If
that is what it means to do it right, then there must have been a problem with
our mothers (of which I am very convinced they never had any problem, it is
you) who never had anything on their wedding – not even a car to ride in some
times.

So where did we get all of these? Everyone in the world is walking on

the same road, and everyone is swept into the same flow. Not only do we see
the whole world dancing, even Christian are also dancing without any idea of
what we should be doing with our lives and the lives of the unsaved around us
and you won’t harass the old man. Many dance to the extent that they forget
our origin and values of life. Today, satan has taken everyone captive and has
made it impossible for God to do anything on earth. Unless satan gains man
first, he cannot damage God’s will on earth.

Man indeed occupies an important position between God and satan.

Since satan has carried away everyone on earth, the first characteristic of a
person to be used by God to be a light bearer in this generation must be that of
a strong standing and a clear separation from the world. Such a person must
stand up and honour, “I cannot do what the world does. I cannot eat and drink
what others eat and drink. I cannot walk the way they walk. I cannot have a part
in the kind of life that they live. I dare to be different from them.”

Such a person sees through everything that belongs to the surge of this
generation. Not only will he not follow those things, but his heart grieves and
burns because of them. With respect to many things, he stands in a position of
separation and becomes a Daniel. Many times young people feel that since
others do something, they can do the same. They claim “Everybody does it”.
They feel that since everyone else is doing it, it is alright for them to do it also.
I must confess to you that if we do this, we will become completely useless in
God’s hand in the matter of bringing sanity to our generation.

This is because we do not stand on God’s side, but rather on satan’s side.
We must have a separation from the people of the world. We must stand up and
be a proof to the common testimonies of the men of the world. Although the
tide around us is downward, inwardly we are standing up against the tide.
Others may play with their lives and destinies, but you are not permitted to do
the same if you must go far with the Lord.
Others may have all kinds of cravings, you cannot. Of course, I am not
suggesting that you should be an abnormal person. Nevertheless, you must
always remember that in a generation where the tide is flowing downward, to
be used by God as a person who will be a change agent, you must be a
separated person; you must be able to stand up as an anti-testimony for God.
CHAPTER FIVE

ROOTED IN THE WORD

One of the very critical and basic criteria for a person who will be used
of God to bring a change in a particular generation must possess is being rooted
in the Word of God. You see, the truth of the matter is that what a man doesn’t
know, he cannot be convinced about neither can he stand for it in the days of
challenge and fierce confrontations from the enemy.

One challenge I have personally found out in our generation which must
be removed and dealt with without delay, if the revival we desire will come, is
the negligence of the Word of God, especially in our pulpits and you know, a
man cannot give what he doesn’t possess, no matter how smart he is. What we
have in many churches and ministries around us today are passionate yet
ignorant men, zealous yet arrogantly ignorant young men and women who
don’t want to sit down to learn of the Christ and not just so to prove they have
leant but to LIVE to proof that Christ has been formed inside them.

What many do not understand is that, when we come to God’s Word, we

must learn not to study for scholarship or for knowledge or even to preach at
someone, but to find out God’s desire for us a individuals, from His Word.

The Word of God says, “Your word have I laid up in MY HEART, that
I might not sin against You.”(Psalm 119:11)

Take note of the emphasis on the individual praying and you will find
out that he never mentioned that he was asking that the word of God be laid up
in the hearts of his hearers but himself. Once we begin to come to that position
of revelation of our emptiness, we will be humble enough to say and not to say
certain things as believers and disciples.

Until we get to that point whereby we find we find out God’s desire, we
will ultimately lack the capacity to join ourselves to His desires and until we
are joined to His desires, we will always find it difficult to accurately be in tune
with Him.

I have seen young men and women with my own eyes who read the
Bible regularly and at stretch, but the only challenge I have with my generation
is that when many of us read the Bible, the Bible remains the Bible, and we are
still ourselves – nothing changes or shifts in us. Why? We do these things
because we are set out to prove a point and boast – I READ MY BIBLE
REGULARLY.

For instance, the Bible clearly says that a believer and an unbeliever
should not be yoked together and this word is clearly written and expressed in
God’s Word, through the apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 6:14:

“Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers [do not make mismated
alliances with them or come under a different yoke with them, inconsistent
with your faith]. For what partnership have right living and right standing
with God with iniquity and lawlessness? Or how can light have fellowship
with darkness?”

That’s clear enough even for the little kid to understand but after reading
it, perhaps we still have brethren, brothers and sisters alike, who still find fun in
going ahead to tell me they love an unbelieving sister claiming they will change
him or her after getting married. Common, when you got saved, you were
saved to minister life and salvation, not to become a converter.

With this kind of attitude of open rebellion, it means that the Bible is the
Bible and we remain as we are, unregenerated and unchanged because it is so
ridiculous that men will read clearly from the Bible that God’s will forbids His
children from being yoked together with unbelievers in everything and we still
rebelliously flout His instructions or try to twist His Word, just to fit our
cravings.
You know, sometimes I wonder what pastors teach and what the
reactions of my generation is to messages and teachings of being unequally
yoked with unbelievers. This means that the lifestyle of an average believer in
this age is totally separate from the Bible such a person cannot make any
change in this generation; neither can he or she be an anti-testimony in a
degrading age. To be an anti-testimony, one must be soaked and live God’s
Word perpetually, touching God’s desire from His Word, and must join himself
to this desire of God but also expressing the fullness of His Person to the world.

The current flow of the matters and issues of the entire world today is
against God’s desire. If within you, you have touched God’s desire, your living
must be an anti-testimony against the testimony of this generation. When you
read 2 Corinthians 6:14 and find out God’s desire about believers and
unbelievers not being yoked together, you should align yourself with the
scripture rather than try to fit into the form of the world system.

From this point on, you should be determined not to befriend any
unbeliever anymore because this is God’s desire – and by this I mean,
befriending the opposite sex in the name of love. Although it is possible that we
still have some brethren who still make friends with unbelievers, the hard truth
is that if you will ever go far in life, you cannot do that anymore. As soon as
you find out God’s desire from His Word, you must join yourself to that
particular desire if you are willing to go far with Him.

Many Bible readers treat Bible reading as an objective matter. This kind
of Bible reading cannot touch God’s desire. Because you read the Bible apart
from the Bible, the Bible can never get into you. Bible reading is useless to
such persons. To read the Bible, one must join himself and his living to God’s
Word. Any time you find out God’s desire from His Word, you must
immediately join yourself to that desire with fear and trembling.
Anyone whom God uses to bear His light in this generation must possess
this characteristic. Only those who join themselves to God’s Word can be of
real use to God! Get back to the Bible.
CHAPTER SIX

COOPERATING WITH GOD THROUGH PRAYERS

Daniel was a man who was always praying. His prayers were very
uncommon. His prayers were prayers that changed the course of matters. Every
time he encountered a crucial matter, he prayed to God. He believed absolutely
in prayer. He believed in prayer because he believed in God and not in himself.
When you are proud, you won’t pray and when you pray, you won’t be proud
because not praying is a signal that you are proud, telling God you can sort
yourself and deal with matters without His intervention.

Not only were the Babylonian magicians ignorant, even the Israelites
were ignorant at that time. Why were they ignorant? It was because they were
under satan’s authority and were following satan. God had to come in to
vindicate. He vindicated by showing that Daniel and his three friends were
different from other people. No one on earth knew the deep things of God
anymore except Daniel. It was the same Daniel and his three friends who
separated themselves who were given undenied access into the revelation of the
deep things of the Father. It was after they separated themselves that God
vindicated them.

The separation was done by them standing up while the vindication was
done by God for them. God raised up an environment by making the king of
Babylon have a dream. The strange thing is that the king was clear about the
dream, yet he could not remember what went on in the dream after he woke up.
Therefore, he called together all the magicians in Babylon, as well as all the
wise and knowledgeable ones. None of them could tell or explain the dream.

This is a representation – it shows us that all the followers of satan on

earth cannot understand the deep things of God but at that juncture, God
vindicated Daniel. He showed everyone that there was someone amidst them
who was separated. He was acknowledged by God, qualified to be used by God,
and capable of speaking forth the mysteries of God. Such a person must be a
person who cooperates with God and the highest expression of a man who
cooperates with God is in the place of prayer.

Before the king of Babylon called for Daniel, he declared that if none of
the magicians or learned ones in Babylon – including the Israelites who decided
to follow the principles of Babylon – under him could explain the dream, he
would destroy them all. Among those who were to be killed were Daniel and
his three friends but I want to believe Daniel would have told his three friends
to pray with him.

They afforded God the highest cooperation; they gave God the highest
coordination. In their single-hearted prayer, God revealed to Daniel in the
dream. It was originally the king’s dream, but now Daniel saw it also. Not only
did Daniel see that dream in his prayer, he understood its meaning as well. This
shows that Daniel was a person living before God; he depended on prayers to
do what man could not do with his own strength, and he depended on prayer to
understand what man could not understand. He was a person who cooperated
with God in prayer.

I believe so much that Daniel would not have seen the dream nor
understood its meaning if he had not prayed. The only reason he could see King
Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and could know its meaning was that he was a person
living in prayer.

Through prayer he afforded God the highest cooperation.

The position upon which God could print His desire onto Daniel was
prayer and if Daniel and his three friends had not prayed at that time but rather
were busy with other things, it would have been like a paper positioned
wrongly. If a paper is positioned improperly in the printer, it would be
impossible to print the letters from the plate. However, when Daniel came back
from the king of Babylon, the first thing he did was to pray with his three
friends to the King of kings. In this prayer, God printed His desire into Daniel’s
spirit.

Daniel was a person who could pray. What satan wanted to deal with
particularly was Daniel’s prayer life. His prayer touched God’s heart and was
able to fulfill God’s plan. Satan purposely wanted to deal with his prayer and
destroy his prayer life. Satan wanted to damage this praying person through the
men under him. He tried to destroy his prayer and render him prayerless.

King Darius decreed that within thirty days, anyone who petitioned
anything of any God or man besides the king would be cast into the den of lions.
Satan’s subtle strategy was to utilize the men around King Darius to deal with
Daniel, to stop him from praying, and eventually ensnare Daniel, the man of
prayer. How did Daniel respond to this? He still prayed as usual and was not at
all threatened by it. The Bible is very clear: “Three times daily he knelt on his
knees and prayed and gave thanks before his God, because he had always done
so previously” (Dan. 6:10).

Nothing could stop Daniel’s praying. If Daniel had not prayed, he would
have failed. As long as satan could destroy and stop Daniel’s prayer, satan
would win. Hence, Daniel’s prayer was like a stronghold on a battlefield. We
must realize that it was Daniel’s prayer that resulted in God being manifested as
the living God. With Daniel, God truly manifested Himself as the living God.
And this manifestation of God was due to Daniel’s prayer.

Not only was Daniel a praying person, he was also a persistent praying
person. He asked God for understanding and directions. He prayed and prayed
steadfastly. He received God’s answer on the first day of his petition. From the
first day, God answered his prayer by sending an angel to show him what
would happen to the children of Israel. Yet when the angel came to the air, he
met satan’s prince who withstood him. There was a battle.

In other words, when God in heaven was about to join Himself to man on
earth, He met satan’s resistance, and there was a twenty-one day battle.
Although God had already heard Daniel’s prayer, satan resisted in the air and
he did not want to allow God’s answer to reach Daniel. Nevertheless, Daniel
was a persistent praying person. He persisted in prayer for twenty one days. As
a result, the angel came to tell him how God had heard his prayer and how He
would deal with His people.

Our prayers are that the ninety-nine percent for ourselves. Very few of
these prayers we pray are for the Kingdom. Only a person like Daniel, who
prayed to God single-heartedly, can be used by Him to cause a change in this
generation.
CHAPTER 7

ARISE & TAKE YOUR JAVELIN!

The church ought to be a place where the younger generations are

constantly learning from mature believers and constantly learning from those
who are older. The church ought to be a place of intergenerational discipleship
and when the church is mentioned, we are not talking about the places of
worship we have around us but the assembly of saints and declared righteous
people of God.

The Lord’s work needs labourers globally; the present generation of

young people could well be the ‘Generation of Phinehas’ who will go and
possess the land. If biblically challenged to do so, I am very much convinced
and sure – by the experience I have had with this great set of people that they
will go. They will impact the world in what could well be called ‘the take-over
generation.’

Christian parents are responsible for discipling their children (Eph 6:4),
the church can also provide tremendous assistance to even the best parents by
reinforcing the lessons they are teaching because not every child has spiritually
mature Christian parents who can disciple him or her well.

Don’t think that every young chap will run away from your assembly if
you start discipleship. No, they won’t and you know what, even those who go
maybe for one reason or the other will return because most times where they
run to, they cannot get what you’re giving them there. I have tried it and it
worked – back in my family church in the city of Ilorin, we were privileged,
under God, to start the Teenagers’ fellowship and within a year of existence, we
already had teenagers inviting their friends from other assemblies to come see
what the Lord is doing in the church.
Some of these friends of theirs are now members of that assembly of
God’s people. Some of the teenagers are becoming potential threats to some
lazy youths because they now serve in different core departments in the church
like the media and interpretation departments (all of these are because they
have been raised by someone and today they are already raising some others –
some even older than them in age) and that’s helping to ignite the love for
Christ in many youths too and the growth is awesome.

We all have something to contribute: our example, testimony, investment,

prayer, patience, instruction, wise counsel, giving, serving, etc.

The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 2:9 that: “But ye are a chosen generation, a
royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth
the praises of Him who hath called you out of the darkness into His
marvelous light.”

We all can and must invest spiritually in the NEXT GENERATION!

We can make a difference and I feel deeply before God to speak such a
word to you. The whole world today has decided to follow satan but God is
willing to gain absolute young people so that He can use them to cause a lasting
revival in the lands where they geographically belong.

I believe that everyone who has received mercy from God will surely
respond to this matter by helping these ones touch God’s desire, be voluntarily-
consecrated ones, Nazirites, and be used by God as an anti-testimony in this
ever-degrading age.

May the LORD send help to us, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
