My Why

I decided that being a teacher would be a good fit for me because I see myself
being able to reach and teach future generations.I know myself and i’m very
comfortable in my own skin, personally I feel as though that is the first step to being able
to teach anyone anything. Secondly, I enjoy a multitude of art forms, poetry, painting,
music, movies are some of my favorites. I’m studying to be an art teacher in the future
because I believe that there is a way to teach students about more than art simply by
teaching them art. The more I grow and learn, the more I realize that there is always
more room to grow and learn. I feel like it’s my duty to teach the children of the future
about how to live with purpose and intention and never allow themselves to get caught
in cycles of small-time thinking. Also teaching them how to properly express themselves
creatively. I believe that teaching is about more than just remembering and reciting
information, it’s about shaping the students into who they don’t know they can become if
they applied themselves. I’m currently a student athlete, I'm training to be a pro fighter,
but there is still an after, and even with my dreams and aspirations the desire to teach
won’t go anywhere. When I discuss my desire to teach with others, I often hear “ We
need more black male teachers”, and that is my final reason why I want to be a teacher.
I find a good teacher to be inspiring, and I’d like to be an inspiration to others and I also
feel as though happy and motivated children can constantly inspire me to do and be
better for them, so it’s a win-win situation. These reasons are not only why i would like
to be a teacher, but also why I believe that I will be a great teacher when that day does
finally come.
