Task 1 – Email (Sample Questions)


1. You have recently flown to another country on a business trip. You were satisfied with the
flight, but didn’t like services at the airport.

Write an email to the airport manager. In your email include:

• Give your flight details.


• Why were you disappointed?
• Suggest some improvements to the airport services.

2. You want to arrange a conference for your company, and you need to ask one of your
colleagues to give a presentation in this conference.

Write an email to your colleague. In your email include:

• Details about the conference


• Why you want your colleague to give presentation?
• What arrangement will you do for this conference?

3. You have just finished your master’s degree and need to leave your current part-time job
to search for full-time employment.

Write an email to your current employer. In your email include:

• explain why you will not be able to pursue a full-time job in his/her company
• say why you’ve enjoyed working for him/her
• tell him/her how much longer you will continue to work for him/her.

4. You have purchased a product on a website and received a different product.

Write an email to the company. In your email include:

• Describe the product you ordered


• Explain why you aren’t satisfied with the product you received
• Let them know what actions you expect them to take

5. Your Manager has asked you to do a presentation at the upcoming training session.

Write an email to your manager. In your email include:

• What is the topic of presentation?


• What is the benefit of conducting a session on that topic?
• What are your requirements for conducting this presentation?

6. You read a newspaper article that captured your attention. Write an email to your friend
and recommend reading the article.

Include the following in your email:

• Where and when the article was published?


• What the article was about?
• Why it is important that your friend reads it?

7. You want to improve your knowledge of foreign language which can help you at work.

Write an email to the concerned teacher. In your email include:

• Where did you hear about the teacher?


• Why do you want to learn the foreign language?
• Ask some questions about the course.

8. You recently took a trip to another city, and you had a plan to visit your friend who is
living there. However, you couldn’t see him/her.

Write an email to your friend. In your email include:

• Apologize for not being able to meet.


• Give your reasons.
• Suggest how you can meet some other time.
