With the evolution and spread of Wireless LAN and 4G LTE, wireless communication in news production has moved from just being
popular to rapidly becoming ubiquitous. Immediacy and mobility demands have made wireless communication indispensable.
In support of wireless news production workflows, Sony offers a range of camcorders with a built-in wireless
capability or a simple wireless adapter compatible with Wireless LAN and 4G LTE networks.
Because Sony’s wireless news production does not require the kind of elaborate equipment used for
satellite-based live broadcasting, these solutions provide easy, lower-cost file transmission and
live-streaming operation, ensuring greater freedom for news gathering.
Sony’s solutions include not only direct transmission of image and audio from a camcorder via 4G LTE
and Wireless LAN networks, but also reliable, quality live streaming based on unique QoS (Quality of Service)
technology with the installation of a PWS-100RX1 Network RX station as a receiver unit.

This helps to bring live production closer to each news studio. * Monitor not included
The PWS-100RX1 is highly compatible with XDCAM camcorders currently used by broadcasters throughout the world, and is very simple
to connect and set up. This compatibility means you can continue to use your XDCAM assets while gradually migrating to wireless
workflows. For operational flexibility, the PWS-100RX1 is equipped with SDI outputs for concurrent dual video streams. Systems can also
be easily extended by adding more PWS-100RX1 units, allowing for multi-site broadcasts and greater input/output loads.
By eliminating prohibitive cost and resource constraints, the PWS-100RX1 opens up many new opportunities for live streams used in
various types of TV production.

Wireless LAN Server
The PWS-100RX1 Network RX Station uses Sony’s unique QoS technology, when receiving live stream from Sony’s
camcorders that have a built-in wireless capability or are equipped with CBK-WA100/101 adapters.
This Network RX Station has a web UI. You can use this, for example, to display thumbnails from multiple camcorders,
monitor stream output from SDI-out, and configure streaming parameters such as bitrate, latency, routing, and more.

Sony’s QoS technology provides high-quality live streaming. * QoS on/off images
It optimizes the communication bandwidth, buffer size,
algorithms, and more automatically. Transmission Mode random packet loss ratio available to recover Bitrate
Low mode (1.5sec latency) 15% 2M - 6Mbps
Middle mode (3.0sec latency) 30% 2M - 6Mbps
I case the network condition of lost ratio after recovery : Video Frame Loss Rate < around 10-5
Sony’s QoS Technology
It’s a fact that packet loss during streaming is difficult to avoid. This runs the risk of image quality
degradation and image freeze or audio disruption. Sony’s unique QoS (Quality of Service)
technology minimizes these challenges and helps to maintain video and audio integrity during
communications.
The PWS-100RX1 comes with Sony-original algorithms that automatically adjust bandwidths and
buffer sizes to match the characteristics of wireless communications.
In particular, the PWS-100RX1 includes these key features of Sony’s QoS technology:
1. Real-time ARQ (Automatic Repeat Request)
2. Adaptive Rate Control (ARC)
3. Forward Error Correction (FEC)
Backed by these technologies, you can be confident of high-quality streaming without worrying
about bandwidth settings and other technical issues.
