Course Description:
Strengthening the skills acquired in Term 1, you will further develop your written
communication skills by applying the indirect pattern in negative and persuasive
situations. You will build up your job search skills by learning the strategies and
nuances of the job interview. Presentation skills will be polished as you design
and deliver a formal presentation. You will continue to develop report-writing
skills by planning, organizing, and writing an analytical report. Finally, you will
learn how businesses use social media and the web to communicate with its
audiences. Both individual and group work will be emphasized throughout the
course.

By the end of this course of study, the student should be able to....
1. Package your skills effectively in a resume, business card, LinkedIn
profile, and cover letter.
2. Develop the necessary skills to perform well in a job interview.
3. Write persuasively using the AIDA technique.
4. Deliver negative news messages using the indirect writing pattern.
5. Outline, research, and write an analytical report.
6. Outline, prepare, and deliver an oral presentation.
7. Communicate effectively for online business needs.
8. Organize, write, and revise your writing to meet acceptable standards of
conventional English.
9. Demonstrate academic honesty by acknowledging all research sources
using the American Psychological Association (APA) documentation style,
while reporting information in your own words.
