My first impressions about the movie are uninteresting and boring because I'm kind of a person who are

not fond of warfare movies especially filipino films , where a lot of cliche fighting scenes occur or main
characters that raises from brink of death just a single kiss. Writing this words may seem I'm against to
my country's cultural and traditional taste especially in movies genres but im much more converse in
anime culture which from in foreign land. Thought I love my motherland but in our genres in movies,
hope that in near future we will adopt the styles in other countries.

But several minutes later, I immediately concluded that my senses have failed me. This movie is a
blockbuster and I take my words above. As I continue the movie, I observe that the film is suite in poetic
opera , seasoned in strong emotions by the characters and simmered with historical facts and true
reality of the people that live during the time. It's true that as one of the children born in this
generation, I don't know how hard and how much sacrifices did by our fallen ancestors to attain
freedom from foreign colonizers and this movie reminded me as a fellow citizens in same motherland
that I have a great responsibility to take care of our country, as my fallen ancestors did.

The movie is a bone chilling due to a great graphics and emotions that bodies a really great and
interesting film that totally worth to spend the time to watch. It’s action scenes and goosebumps
moments brings us back to what really happened during Philippine-American War. The “Heneral Luna”
was one of the best Filipino historical films that I ever seen, which represent the brave leadership of
Heneral Antonio Luna with his men dispate he himself has many enemies who surrounds him. The film
clearly depicts the struggle of every Filipino to fight for their country and for their freedom where in
they are willing to risk their own lives rather than give up and let it fall into the hands of the American.
The film also shows that even though Filipinos lack inadvanced equipment and supplies, we can still
stand a war against the Americans if we have a good leader or a general like Antonio.

The director and others who made the movie did a really good job and wants us to understand that even
though other Generals and high-ranking government officials failed to assist him, Heneral Luna fought
till the end. Which labeled him as a Fiery General that displays his aggression for cowards and traitors on
his side, as well as his devotion to the country he adores. Morality is displayed also in the movie, which
General Luna is a definitely have a spirit of utilitarianism, he believes that he'll use blood and sweat for
the wellness of all fellow Filipinos and the country. The movie’s depiction of General Antonio Luna as
fierce and courageous would make one ponder if the ones leading our country now are also capable of
giving up their lives of comfort and truly fight for our nation; for our freedom. One of the things that
attracted the audience to the film was its ability to give importance to history without compromising the
human aspects of emotions. It was a simple portrayal of historical events that epitomized bravery and
treachery in a country at war. Our country is very rich in culture and history. There are many more
stories similar to Heneral Luna that remains to be told. And the Filipino audiences are just waiting for
someone to tell these stories to them.

Currently, many Filipino doesn’t know much about their own country's history which made the film
Heneral Luna a great way for Filipinos to appreciate more of our past and learn from it. The movie
reminds us that because we were ruled and oppressed for more than 300 years by the Spaniards, we
had no concept of being a nation. Filipinos were divided at that time because the idea of being free and
being one as a nation was rather new to us. Thus, the leadership of General Luna was needed. His
brand of leadership may have encountered much resistance because he demanded a lot from his
soldiers. The people heeded his call and followed him because he led by example. He was not only
trying to win a war. He was trying to build a free nation and in the process, taught his countrymen how
to achieve that. This movie also able to influence our today's generation to re-discover a sense of
nationalism through its portrayals of oppression that the Filipinos experienced from the American and
Spaniard colonizers during that time.

Overall at the beginning and at the end of the movie, Heneral Luna is one of the greatest historical films
ever made in the Philippines . It contains all of the facts and information that Heneral Luna and all the
characters in the movie, the actors really compliment to their characters, the graphics and sound are
magestic, and even though at the end is so heartbreaking because of betrayal brought the general to his
death by fellow filipino, our country's history tells us and also General Luna want to tell us that, "Our
greatest enemy is ourselves" and it is due to our own selfishness and greed unable us to unite as a
country. And doing the opposite, bring us to our dreamed freedom.
