DICT Region 3 held a three-day training about the Basic Digital Literacy regarding the use
of Microsoft Office Application such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. It started April 19 - 21 every
1:00 – 4:00 in the afternoon with the total of 9hours.

In Day 1, with guest speaker Mr. Mark Kenneth Dionisio, shown here are the interface of
the MS Word, which discussed to us each interface features and inside contents such as buttons,
tables, shortcut keys, page header, footer and the basic tools and information about the
Microsoft Word, though I knew some of them, he taught not only me but make sure all of the
attendees the things we never thought we could do with the application.

In Day 2, with guest speaker Mr. Karlo Gabriel Abad, he introduced us the MS Excel
which is an electronic spreadsheet software package that allows you to organize data in tabular
format, perform mathematical calculations, and analyze data. This software also includes
functions, formulas, and charts. And is commonly used in business, engineering, mathematics
and statistics. The objective of this training to know the Excel/Spreadsheets basic function, basic
vlookup, and basic formulas.

In Day 3, with guest speaker Mr. Don King Dalusog, he introduced us the MS PowerPoint
which is very helpful to all aspect such as educational or in business setting. The objective of this
training is to know the PowerPoint basic function, create presentation, edit slides, understand
the presenter view, create and format text, lists and tables, insert and manipulate graphical

Today’s training is very informative and is all about the Essence of Data Visualization of
guest speaker Ms. Racquel Sarah Castro hosted by DICT Region - IVA Laguna. From the title
itself, it is the act of processing and interpreting data into a visible form. Because the lessons
learned and insights gained from one data project typically inform the next, the data life cycle is
often described as a cycle. First from the cycle is Generation. Data Generation occurs regardless
of whether you’re aware of it, especially in our increasingly online world. Some of this data is
generated by your organization, some by your customers, and some by third parties you may or
may not be aware of, everything generates data. Given the proper attention, this data can often
lead to powerful insights that allow you to better serve your customers and become more
effective in your role.

Not all of the data that’s generated every day is collected or used. It’s important to note that
many organizations take a broad approach to data collection, capturing as much data as possible
from each interaction and storing it for potential use and start by creating a plan to capture the
data you know is critical to your project. Once data has been collected, it must be processed
whether wrangling, compression or encryption. After data has been collected and processed, it
must be stored for future use. Data management involves organizing, storing, and retrieving
data as necessary over the life of a data project. Next to this is data analysis which is the
processes that attempt to glean meaningful insights from raw data the data visualization which
is the process of creating graphical representations of your information, typically through the
use of one or more visualization tools. And lastly, the interpretation phase of the data life cycle
provides the opportunity to make sense of your analysis and visualization. Data visualization aids
in the understanding and dissemination of complex information.

Another training was hosted by DICT Region – IVA, Laguna entitled Intermediate Excel
Training: Utilizing Pivot Tables and Functions with guest speaker Ms. Ritchell Arquilita. I was not
really familiar with pivot tables not until I attended this training and upon learning it, I know that
it will be an advantage for me because it will be very helpful for some situations that I might
need it to ease my tasks.

The training’s objective is from the title itself, to know what pivot tables is about and its
function, how does it work and where can we use it. Just like the training from DICT Region 3,
Pivot tables was mentioned and that I truly understand how it works.

Pivot Table is a tool built in MS Excel that allows you to summarize large quantities of
data within a database quickly and easily. It is used to explore, sort, reorganize, group, count,
total or average data stored in a table. Given an input table with tens, hundreds, or even
thousands of rows, Pivot Tables allow you to extract answers to a series of basic questions about
your data with minimal effort. It allows us to transform columns into rows and rows into
columns. It allows grouping by any field and using advanced calculations on them. Also, it can be
used often in financial analysis to facilitate deeper analysis of given data. The function helps
extract, group, or add data from a pivot table. Beyond that, they are infinitely flexible, and
applicable to a huge variety of situations. Once you create a pivot table, you can quickly
transform huge numbers of rows and columns into a meaningful, nicely formatted report.

Today’s training is about the introduction of HTML and CSS was hosted by DICT Region –
IVB Palawan via zoom platform with guest speaker Mr. Tiburcio Bautista III. HTML was first
taught to me back in grade 7 in junior high. I was not yet familiar with it that time and both
HTML and CSS was taught in my first year in college. There, I get to familiarize how it works.

In today’s training, the objectives are the to know about HTML and CSS itself, setting up
firebase hosting, to deploy web app and to use a framework. HTML is used for creating the
primary content of a webpage, giving it structure. CSS is a sheet style language, which is a type
of language you can use to describe the presentation of a markup language – in this case, to
describe the movements of HTML. Simply, HTML defines the content and the structure of a
webpage, whereas CSS translates the display and the design of the HTML elements.
Installing firebase CLI makes it easy to set up a new hosting project, run a local development
server, and deploy content. To set up a project directory, add your static assets to a local project
directory, then run firebase init to connect the directory to a firebase project. In your local
project directory, you can also set up cloud functions or cloud run for your dynamic content and
microservices. Next is to deploy your site. When things are looking good, run firebase deploy to
upload the latest snapshot to our servers. If you need to undo the deploy, you can roll back with
just one click in the firebase console. Last one is optional but you can link your site to a firebase
web app. By linking your site to a firebase web app, you can use google analytics to collect usage
and behavior data for your app and use firebase performance monitoring to gain insight into the
performance characteristics of your app.

Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. in partnership with DICT held a
webinar called A Primer on ICT Careers with guest speaker Engr. Ravel A. De Jesus. Here, the
webinar’s objective is to identify various ICT Sector and ICT Enabled Sectors, obtain skills in
program flow analysis and pseudo coding and familiarize with DICTs partner stakeholders that
spearhead gender and development (GAD Agenda).

ICT sectors are made up of the manufacturing and services sectors whose main activity
is linked to development, production, commercialization and intensive use of new technology.
This includes the telecom and broadcasting, ICT equipment manufacturers, software developers
and ICT-ES providers while in ICT enabled sectors are engineering or architectural design,
offshoring and outsourcing service providers and software development Students, teachers (all
levels including school administrators), professionals and skilled workers, entrepreneurs,
marginalized sectors and general public are the beneficiary of all these sectors. I thought ICT
was just a term specifically in our diploma course program until I knew that ICT was
institutionalized as a law in 2004. He also taught us the things to be considered by an
experienced level applicant. Pseudo coding is new for me but it simply means often uses
structural conventions of a normal programming language, but is intended for human reading
rather than machine reading. He showed us some examples and I had fun learning it.
Interestingly, he explained also why the logo of the DICT contains numbers is because of the
binary that means DICT. And lastly, the DICT partners in voice-based services suppliers, banking,
financial services and insurance, homegrown suppliers, IT and software services and shared
service center/captives.

Creating an Adventure Game using Python Code is a webinar I had attended last April
26, 2022 from a mobile application called Reskills. It is a Global OnLive Learning Platform. This
webinar was based on Malaysia and is held on zoom platform with speaker Dr. Christine Lee.
Even though I have small background in python programming, this is a great opportunity
because discussed here are the things to learn on how to create an app or a game and the
python programming itself.

Python is a high-level, interpreted, general-purpose programming language. Its design

philosophy emphasizes code readability with the use of significant indentation. Discussed here
are about what a python programming can do through application which are: Web Apps,
Scientific and Measure, Image Processing Apps, Audio or Video-based Apps, 3D Card Apps,
Desktop GUI Apps, Software Development Apps, Enterprise Apps, Business Apps and Console-
based Apps. Python is meant to be an easily readable language. Its formatting is visually
uncluttered and often uses English keywords where other languages use punctuation. Unlike
many other languages, it does not use curly brackets to delimit blocks, and semicolons after
statements are allowed but rarely used. Discussed here are the basic of python such as input
and output, data types and control structure and its flowchart, as she explains, she also showed
us the flow of an actual example of coding a python program.
