HOW TO VERIFY THE SOFTWARE VERSION ON THE STERILIZER

Use the UP, DOWN and OK buttons to browse

the menu, choosing the following options in
sequence: MENU – DEVICE INFO

Scroll the parameters by pressing DOWN until

the software version is displayed.

ATTENTION!

It is strongly recommended to update all sterilizers in the marketplace with the latest software
version.

This will provide users with the opportunity to enjoy the full benefit of new developments and
improvements virtually free of charge. Please make use of this opportunity whenever you visit a
doctor’s office, during regular service and maintenance calls, and whenever you have a sterilizer in
your shop for repair.

SOFTWARE UPDATE
UPDATE is the standard procedure to provide the sterilizer with the latest software version.
This procedure should be followed whenever sterilizers are serviced, when a more recent software version is
available.

This procedure keeps all the most important settings, data and parameters stored in the sterilizer memory
but could alter other minor settings. For more details please refer to paragraph “REPROGRAMMING AFTER
UPDATE/INSTALL”.

ATTENTION!
The software UPDATE procedure must NOT be used if the CPU-board was replaced
during the service. If a new CPU-bard was placed, use the INSTALL procedure
instead!

SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
INSTALL is the special procedure that must be followed when the sterilizer CPU-board was replaced
during service.
The INSTALL procedure will complwetely erase and re-program the CPU-board memory.

LINA MB - Software - Rev. 1 3

PROCEDURE FOR SOFTWARE UPDATE / INSTALLATION
The procedure requires:
• a PC with a free serial port (if the PC doesn’have a serial port, you will need a USB-Serial
converter: W&H provides such converter, ref. n. A7010040);
• a NULL-MODEM DB9 Female-Female serial cable (ref. A7010030);
• the latest version of the installation / update program. This is usually sent in a ZIPped folder.
Unzip it before starting the procedure.

ATTENTION!
Both the INSTALL and the UPDATE procedures will erase the sterilizer cycle
history. Take care to print or store the cycle reports on the USB memory (using the
Multiport data logger) if required by the user.

STEP DESCRIPTION

1 Switch OFF the sterilizer.

Connect the sterilizer to the serial port of the PC using the

NULL-MODEM DB9 Female-Female serial cable.

Hold the “OK” and the “BACK” buttons pressed

simultaneously and at the same time switch ON the
sterilizer.
3
Release the buttons: a “SERVICE MODE” message
appears on the display.
Launch the WHInstaller.bat file on the PC
4
NOTE: DO NOT LAUNCH the EXE file as you will not obtain the expected result.
If you get an alarm message like “Unable to find the runtime to run this application”, launch (by
5
double - clicking) the vcredist_x86.exe file, install the runtime and then repeat from step 1.

4 LINA MB - Software - Rev. 1

STEP DESCRIPTION

A dialog window will

appear
6
(see image on side)

If you want to update the sterilizer with a new software release, select UPDATE and then jump to
7
step 14 (at the end of the grey block)
If a new PCB has been installed and must be completely reprogrammed, you have to activate the
INSTALL procedure

NOTE: INSTALL erases completely the parameters, data and history stored in the memory of the
8 main board and reprograms it in a “as new” state. This procedure must be used if a new PCB has
been installed, or if you install a used PCB having in memory parameters, data and history that do
not belong to the sterilizer you are about to install on.
If you want to preserve the data stored in memory and just update the software version, use
UPDATE.

Before launching INSTALL,

you must make the option
available.
9
Select:
FILE
ENTER SPECIAL CODE

LINA MB - Software - Rev. 1 5

STEP DESCRIPTION

Enter the code 200100 into

10
the box

Now the option INSTALL is

available: select INSTALL

11
The MODEL, SUB-MODEL and
SERIAL NUMBER selections are
now accessible

Select the model and the sub-model of the sterilizer.

12
Enter the serial number of the sterilizer in the appropriate field.

If the OTHER SETTINGS fields

become accessible, this means
that the serial number or model
you entered has multiple
possibilities for the heater and for
the door locking system. Check
the paragraph “SELECTION OF
13
THE HEATER AND OF THE
DOOR LOCKING SYSTEM” in
the further pages to individuate
the type of components that are
actually installed in the sterilizer,
and choose the appropriate
options in the selection pop-ups.

Select the serial port you have used for the connection between the sterilizer and the PC. If you are
using a USB-serial converter, please remember the following:
- always install the converter with its appropriate drivers;
14 - restart the computer before using the serial communication
- after restarting, the port number could be not the same as when installed;
- the communication line must be installed BEFORE launching the WHInstaller.bat file
- generally (but not always) the port to be used it is the last available in the pop-up list.
The baud rate is the speed of the data communication. The pre-set value is 57600 bytes per
15 second and is supported by most PCs. Higher speeds may be selected, if supported. If the
communication doesn’t take place or if some errors occur, reduce the speed until it works.
16 Click on CONTINUE

6 LINA MB - Software - Rev. 1

STEP DESCRIPTION
A wait message will be shown on the display of the sterilizer (if the SERVICE MODE message
persists, this means that there is no communication).
17 During the procedure, single-step progress bars and a general progress bar are continuously
updated.
After the procedure is completed, a message “UPDATE DONE !” appears.
18 Switch OFF the sterilizer.
Only if you are running the INSTALL procedure, switch ON the sterilizer again and access the
menu to introduce the following information:
• Cycle counter
19 • Test cycle counter
• Maintenance counters for door seal, dust filter, bacteriological filter
• Maintenance counters for 4000 and 20000 cycles servicing
• All “Activation codes” previously introduced to enable extra functions.
For both the UPDATE and for the INSTALL procedure, access the menu and enter the parameters
20
listed in the table of the paragraph “Reprogramming after UPDATE / INSTALL”.

LINA MB - Software - Rev. 1 7

REPROGRAMMING AFTER UPDATE / INSTALL

The following parameters (mostly related to optional accessories or custom settings) will be lost when run-
ning the INSTALL procedure, but might be lost or altered even when performing an UPDATE.
Whichever procedure you have followed, check and restore the parameters according to the original configu-
ration / setup of the sterilizer.

Some of these parameters could be automatically configured as a part of the

SELECTION OF THE HEATER AND OF THE DOOR LOCKING SYSTEM

a) Heater
You must check the electric supply and the number of electric wires of the heater, then refer to the table be-
low.
The ohmic value is also shown in the table, but an ohmic test is not necessary.

Electric Number of Ohmic value

Selection
supply wires (nominal, cold conditions)

110-125VAC - 7.92 Ώ OP7 - 1600W - 100 - 127V

2 26.5 Ώ OP8 - 2000W - 220-240V

3 39 Ώ / 79 Ώ OP2 - 1333W + 666W - 220-240V

200-240VAC
38 Ώ / 76 Ώ / 76 Ώ
4 OP11 - 2x850W - - 220-240V
38 Ώ / 38 Ώ

To measure the ohmic values, the heating element must be disconnected and isolated from the sterilizer in-
ternal wiring, otherwise the values could be altered.
Measure the ohmic value between the common wire (the wire coming from the thermal overload thermostat)
and the other wires.

b) Door locking system

Look at the construction method of the body of the door locking system. Check also the part number label , if
present on the part.
