Fáilte Ar Ais
We welcome back all members of our school community. We hope you all had a nice summer
break. As we begin the new term we look forward to a great year ahead, working together for
the good of our pupils and the school. A special word of welcome to our six new junior infants
who have all settled in really well. Wishing them many happy years with us.

Fr. Danny’s Retirement

We wish Fr. Danny well on his retirement; we sincerely thank him, and acknowledge his support
and guidance over the past 17 years. We hope to make a presentation to him in the coming weeks
on behalf of the school. Fr. Billy Caulfield will be the new school chaplain and we look forward to
working with him in the coming months and years ahead.
Swimming
Swimming lessons well take place during Term 3 for classes 1st-6th.

Reminders
Marie our secretary is in the office Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8.40-2.40pm. Please
ensure we have your/your child minders current contact details for the year ahead. If you need
to pass on a message/speak to one of the teachers you can have a quick word at the gate, send a
message on SeeSaw or ring the office to make an appointment for a more in-depth chat. If your
child is absent from school please inform the class teacher of the reason for their absence as
we have to keep a record of all absences.
Money Due
Booklists, Art/Crafts & Photocopying money is now due for classes Senior Infants to 6th. We
would ask that it is paid directly into our school account (where possible). This money is hugely
important to the school. Thank you to all parents who have already paid. We can set up a
payment plan for any family who would like us to do so. For your records:
BIC: BOFIIE2D
IBAN: IE15 BOFI 9065 2311 1683 27
The account name is:   Castledockrell National School.
Please notify the school when the payment is made and Marie will issue a receipt.
SeeSaw
SeeSaw is a wonderful way to maintain contact between home and school. Please ensure that you
have it downloaded on home devices. If you have any difficulty or if you need a new copy of you
code please just let us know. Thank you.

Parent’s Association News and Notices
All parents are actively encouraged to become involved in the PA. There are no arrangements
for an AGM at the moment. As soon as we have details we will let you know.

Insurance Forms
We are sending home voluntary 24 hour insurance forms for individual children. For as little as
€9 your child can have 24 hour cover. If you are interested please send forms and money back
into the school by Friday, 9th September.

 New Entrance
We are delighted with the new entrance and footpaths outside the school. It is now much safer
for our pupils. Car parking lines, gates and landscaping will be completed in the coming weeks.
Huge thanks to all involved.
Please help us to keep the front of the school as safe as possible; always try to reverse park
perpendicular to the school wall. Never park in front of the gate. Thank you for your support.

Assembly
Our school assembly takes place every Friday. This is an important part of the school week
where news, events and achievements are discussed and celebrated.
P.E. Days
We would ask children to wear their school tracksuits on Wednesdays and Fridays for P.E.
lessons. (These days may change when GAA coaching returns)

Healthy Lunches
We remind parents of our healthy lunches policy and thank you for your ongoing support with
same. All wrappers and empty cartons are to be taken home in pupils lunchboxes. Treats are only
allowed on special occasions. Thank you.

Green School & Active Flag
We are very proud of our Green School and Active School status. We remind everyone about our
WOW Days (Walk on Wednesday) and encourage parents and children to walk/cycle when
possible.
We will re-launch our WOW day on Wednesday, 14th September. We will meet at the church
car park at 8.50am and walk together to school where the children will enjoy a small
breakfast together. If you are availing of the early drop off facility; drop your child as normal
at the school, and they can walk with the teachers down to the car park and back up to the
school with their classmates (weather permitting). Parents are welcome to walk with us on the
morning and join us for a cuppa afterwards.
Savings Stamps
Saving Stamps are on sale in the office on Friday mornings. We have had a great uptake on
these in the past few years and hope this continues. It’s a great way to save towards
the cost of school tours and special occasions.

Back to School
Welcome children, I'm glad you're here.
We're all going to have a wonderful year!
We'll draw and we'll write,
We'll sing and we'll play,
We'll paint and we'll build,
And learn new things each day!
School is something we must all embrace,
Just remember to learn at your own pace.
The leaves are falling one by one,
Summer's over, school's begun!
